5. Fire protection
5.1 Floor protection in the area in
front of the combustion cham-
ber opening
Before the combustion chamber opening, floors
made of flammable building materials must be
protected by a covering made of non-combusti-
ble building materials. The pad must extend for
at least 500 mm to the front and at least 300
mm to the side beyond the front plate (Fig. 3).

5.2 Components made of com-
bustible building materials or
combustible components and
fitted furniture in the vicinity
of stoves
From the combustion chamber opening, at
least 800 mm clearance to components made
of flammable building materials or combusti-
ble components as well as to built-in furniture
must be maintained to the front, to the top and
to the sides; when arranging a radiation protec-
tion ventilated on both sides, a distance of 400
mm is suicient.The ventilated distance must
be at least 20 mm (Fig. 4).

From the free outer surfaces of the cladding to
the installation room, a distance of at least
50 mm from combustible building materials
(Fig. 5) or combustible components and to
built-in furniture must be maintained.

Heat accumulation must be avoided, the air
flow must be able to circulate freely.
The outlet points for hot air shall be arranged so
that, within a lateral distance of 300 mm up to
a height of 500 mm above the exit points, there
are no components with flammable building
materials, no such cladding and no built-in fur-
niture (Fig. 5 ).
