Assembling the MCX Telescope
To operate the MCX, you need an additional eight AA batteries - the assembly takes place
in just four steps:
1.MounttheLEDviewfinderusingtheAllenkeyasshowninFig.8shownontelescope
tube.
IMPORTANT NOTE!
Make sure that the mirror surface of the LED viewfinder points towards the tube opening
when attaching it.
Formoreinformationontheorientationoftheviewfinder,refertochapter"Use-TheLED
Viewfinder".
2.InserttheSP26mmeyepiece(1,fig.2)intotheeyepiecesocket(4,fig.2).Tightenthe
clamping screw (3, fig. 2) to touch tightness (do not overtighten).
3.Thebatterycompartmentofthetelescope(6,fig.9)islocatedatthebottomofthe
basemotorhousing. Bring the telescope, as pictured in Fig. 9, into a secure lateral
position.Simultaneouslypressthetworetainingclips(4,fig.9)andopenthebattery
compartment.Liftthebatterycompartmentcover(5,fig.9)fromthebasehousing.
Nowinsert theeightAAbatteries intothebattery compartment,observingtheir+/-
orientation, which is indicated on the battery compartment base.
Alternatively,usetherecommendedpowersupplyunit(art.no.0455121).Connectitto
thefemale12Vjacksocketconnector(4,fig.10)foundonthesidepanel.
WARNING!
Insert the batteries with the great care! Do not insert the batteries upside down, do not mix
old and new batteries and only use batteries of the same type. Do not use rechargeable
batteries! If these precautions are not followed, or if batteries (even single ones and only
for a short time) are inserted the wrong way round, irreversible damage may occur to the
MCX itself, which is not covered by the telescopes warranty! Further damage caused by
leaking, heating, possibly burning or bursting batteries, cannot be covered by the warranty
either!
4. Place the telescope upright on a table. Make sure that the power supply switch on the
sidepanel(1,fig.10)isintheOFFposition.Connectthecoiledcableofthehandheld
computertotheHBXsocket(3,fig.10).
The assembly of the MCX telescope is now complete. Now the assembly on the field
tripod follows.
