Het communicatiesysteem Forum 5050 is pc-software voor
spraakcommunicatie door middel van VoIP. Met VoIP (“Voice over
Internet Protocol”) kunnen telefoongesprekken via intranet- en
internetdatakabels worden gevoerd. VoIP maakt nieuwe toepas-
singen mogelijk en biedt in veel gevallen een kostenvoordeel.
Het communicatiesysteem Forum 5050 wordt onder het bestu-
ringssysteem Windows geïnstalleerd en uitgevoerd. De software-
combinatie kan op normale, in de handel verkrijgbare pc-hard-
ware draaien. Het communicatiesysteem Forum 5050 stelt na de
inbedrijfstelling omvangrijke communicatie- en toepassingsmoge-
lijkheden ter beschikking die zowel aan gebruikelijke als aan
groeiende eisen aan de moderne spraakcommunicatie tegemoet-
komen.
Dankzij het vermogen van moderne pc-hardware hebt u enerzijds
geen kosten voor de aanschaf, de installatie en het onderhoud van
speciaal voor de spraakcommunicatie ontworpen hardwaresyste-
men, zoals telefooninstallaties (PABX) of speciale telefoonkabels. U
kan anderzijds de gebruikelijke functies van dergelijke communica-
tiesystemen volledig benutten. Bovendien kan u van aanvullende
mogelijkheden gebruik maken, zoals VoIP-koppeling met communi-
catiesystemen op afstand of de integratie in programmasystemen
die VoIP voor de spraakcommuncatie toepassen.
De volgende communicatietoepassingen zijn mogelijk:
z Telefonie met VoIP-systeemtelefoons, SIP-systeemtelefoons,
standaard-SIP-telefoons of softwaretelefoons
z Telefonie met DECT-toestellen of met DECT-GAP-standaardte-
lefoons door middel van DECT over IP-basisstations
SIP-lijnen
Het communicatiesysteem Forum 5050 biedt externe SIP-verbindin-
gen als “SIP-lijnen. Behalve diverse afzonderlijke SIP-verbindingen
van verschillende SIP-providers kunnen voor de externe telefonie
ook SIP-DDI-verbindingen met doorkiescapaciteit worden gebruikt.
Het instellen en bezetten van externe SIP-verbindingen is voor de
telefoniegebruikers geheel transparant. Daardoor kan er soepel wor-
den overgestapt op gunstige iInternettelefonie.
