structions for future reference. This operating instruction contains important details for handling the
device. Please pass it on along with the unit if it is handed over to a third party!
Please read the safety instructions most carefully! These instructions will make it easier for you to handle
the device appropriately and help prevent misunderstandings and possible damages.
!Please note the following safety notes to avoid malfunctions,
damage or physical injury:
• Please read this manual first before using the trouble code reader!
• Make sure the vehicle is OBD II compliant.
• Only connect the trouble code reader to the vehicle with ignition off.
• Perform emission inspections in well-ventilated work area or perform such inspections only out-
doors. There is risk of poisoning!
• Keep clothing, hair, hands, tools and the trouble code reader away from all moving or hot engine
parts. Do not conduct the line cord over sharp edges and corners or hot surfaces.
• Use extreme caution when working around the ignition coil, distributor cap, ignition wires and spark
plugs. These components create hazardous voltages when the engine is running. There is danger of life!
• Put transmission in PARK (for automatic transmission) or NEUTRAL (for manual transmission) and
make sure the parking break is engaged.
• Do not continue to use the trouble code reader if the unit or the line cord are damaged. Repair work
must be done by a qualified service technician.
• Keep the code reader dry, clean and free from oil, water and grease.
• Do not disassemble the unit or attempt to repair it yourself. It does not contain parts serviceable by
you. In the case of questions or problems, turn to our customer support.
Safety Notes
This second generation of On-board Diagnostic regulations is called OBD II. The OBD II trouble code rea-
der is equipped with one or several emission relevant ECU’s (electronic control unit), the MIL malfunction
indicator light, the diagnostic link connecter and the cord.
