90 Charging the Handset Batteries
e
A wrong polarity of the AAA batteries can damage the phone.
Use only the batteries supplied or the recommended batteries. Never use non rechargeable
batteries. If you use an incorrect battery type there is a risk of explosion or damage to your
handset and it will invalidate your warranty.
Handle the batteries properly. Strictly follow the directions stated in chapter Battery Check-
ing and Handling on page 85.
If the phone was previously used, please check the batteries efficiency and replace them, if neces-
sary.
Charging the Handset Batteries
Before initial operation, you should fully charge the handset's batteries for 15 hours or more.
To charge the batteries, simply place the handset into
base slot as showed: you will hear a confirmation beep
(charging beep).
During the charge the green LED on the base will turn
on. At the same time, the handset will show the bars
inside the battery icon "moving" (shown alternately).
When the charging is complete (battery fully charged),
the bars will be permanently shown.
The first time you charge the batteries, don't remove the handset before 15 hours, otherwise the
batteries duty could be temporarily reduced. After the first charge, you can charge the batteries for
less time according to the energy left.
When possible, charge the batteries when you have fully discharged it (no bars in the battery icon):
this will help them lasting as long as possible. For further references please see the chapter Battery
Checking and Handling on page 85.
The supplied batteries are new, therefore they allow the full duty only after few complete charging/
discharging cycles.
Battery duration will depend on the usage of the handset. In order to increase the duration don't
forget to set the Power Save mode to on (see chapter Setting Display on page 127).
If you like, you can disable or change the charging beep. Please see chapter Enabling/Disabling
Charging Beep on page 125.
