REHEATING
Your microwave oven will reheat food in a fraction of the time a conventional oven takes.
Arranging and Covering
Avoid reheating large items such as joints of meat since they tend to overcook and dry out before
the centre is piping hot. You will have more success reheating smaller pieces. Keeping food
covered while heating will also help prevent drying.
Power Levels
Di erent power levels can be used for reheating foods.
In general, for large quantities of delicate food or foods that heat up quickly, such as mince pies, it
is better to use a lower power level.
Stirring
Stir well or turn food over during reheating for best results. When possible, stir again before
serving. Stirring is especially important when heating liquids.
Heating and Standing Times
When reheating food for the fi rst time, it is helpful to make a note of the time taken for future
reference. Avoid overheating. If uncertain, it is preferable to underestimate cooking time. Then
extra heating time can be added, if necessary. Always make sure that reheated food is piping hot
throughout. Allow food to stand for a short time after reheating to let the temperature even out.
The recommended standing time after reheating is 2 - 4 minutes.
