2.2.1 Function Principle
The storage blocks are heated up by the heating elements between the rows of storage blocks.
Charging is set continuously with the charging control unit (selector knob fig. 16)
Start and duration of the charging time are determined by the responsible electricity supply
company.
A built-in safety temperature controller (17) and a safety temperature limiter (18) prevent
overheating of the unit. Whilst the safety temperature regulators switch on again automatically,
the safety temperature limiter must be switched back on by the technician by pressing in the knob
in the middle of the limiter after eliminating the cause of the error.
The heat stored in this way is then re-discharged through surface of the unit by natural
convection, radiation and heat conduction.
2.2.2 Electronic Charging Control Unit
Behaviour in case of fault
The charging control unit in the heater is set at the factory to ”positive fault behaviour (80 % PS),
i.e. in the case of a defective charging control unit (e.g. failure of the control signal), the unit is
fully charged.
The unit can be switched to ”negative fault behaviour” (no charging of the storage heater) by
moving the plug-in bridge X16 to position ”80 % NS” when the device is connected to a digital
charging control unit.
Operation with the charging control unit
The appropriate notes in the operating and installation instructions of the charging control unit
must be observed.
Control signal
The electronic charging control unit can be connected to different control signals (ED) of control
units and can therefore be integrated in existing systems.
It is factory set to an AC control signal (AC voltage signal at terminals A1/A2) with 80 % ED.
Other ED signals (68/72, 37/40 %) can be selected by moving the plug-in bridge X16. This is
necessary when the unit is integrated in an already existing system which controls the charging
with one of the named ED signals.
