Blu-ray discs even though it is not listed under Blu-ray settings.) For information, see Add ROM content to the disc

cated DVDs” on page 174.
Copy Protection Specifies a choice of different forms of copy protection that can be set during professional repli-
cation of the DVD. (This option is not available for Blu-ray discs.) For information, see “Set copy protection for repli-

Specify a layer break for dual-layer DVDs
Dual-layer DVDs must have a layer break—the point at which the DVD player switches from the first layer to the
second. Ideally, Encore creates the layer break (also called layer transition) between timelines or menus, making a
smooth transition (since it jumps layers at a point where no content is playing). If it cannot find a spot that satisfies
these requirements, Encore enables the Layer Break setting. When the Layer Break setting is enabled, you can specify
the break manually, or let the software do it automatically.
Note: This option is not available for Blu-ray discs.
1 Choose File > Build, and choose the option corresponding to the type of DVD output to build.
2 In the Disc Info section of the DVD Settings, make sure the discs Size is set to 8.54 GB Dual Layer.
3 If the Layer Break setting is enabled, specify the type of layer break:
Automatic Lets Encore determine the layer transition. To use an existing break, check If Possible, Use Existing Layer
Break. If no valid break exists, the program uses the last chapter point in the allowable range. If no chapter point
exists, Encore uses the midpoint of the range (per the timecode) as the default location.
Manual Opens the Set Layer Transition dialog box. Set the layer break at either a chapter point or a specific frame
(per the timecode.) Encore lists the choices for each option. Creating a layer break at a chapter point can result in a
brief pause as the DVD player moves from one layer to the next.
