59FT-1900R OPERATING MANUAL
CW Identifier Setup
The ARTS™ feature includes a CW identifier, as discussed previously. Every ten minutes
during ARTS™ operation, the radio can be instructed to send “DE (your callsign) K,” if this
feature is enabled. The callsign field may contain up to 16 characters.
Here’s how to program the CW Identifier:
1. Press and hold in the
[
MHz
(
SET
)]
key for one second, then
rotate the DIAL knob to select “11 CW ID.”
2. Press the
[
MHz
(
SET
)]
key, followed by the
[
LOW
(
A/N
)]
key, to display any previ-
ously-stored callsign.
3. Press and hold in the
[
LOW
(
A/N
)]
key for one second to
Clear any previous callsign.
4. Rotate the DIAL knob to select the first letter/number of
your callsign, then press the
[
LOW
(
A/N
)]
key momentarily
to save the first letter/number and move on to the next character.
5. Repeat the previous step, as many times as necessary, to complete your callsign. Note
that the “slant bar” (
) is among the available charac-
ters, should you be a “portable” station.
6. If you make a mistake, press the
[
REV
(
DW
)]
key to move back to the previous letter/
numbers slot, then re-select the correct letter/number.
7. When you have finished entering your entire callsign and it contains less than 16 char-
acters, press the
[
MHz
(
SET
)]
key momentarily to confirm the callsign. (if you callsign
has exactly 16 characters, you do not need to press the
[
MHz
(
SET
)]
key in this step,
and step ).
8. Press the
[
MHz
(
SET
)]
key momentarily again, then rotate
the DIAL knob to set this Item to “ON” (to enable the CW
ID function).
9. When you have made your selection, press and hold in the
[
MHz
(
SET
)]
key for one
second to save the new setting and exit to normal operation.
To disable the CW Identifier:
1. Press and hold in the
[
MHz
(
SET
)]
key for one second, then
rotate the DIAL knob to select “11 CW ID.”
2. Press the
[
MHz
(
SET
)]
key momentarily, then rotate the
DIAL knob to set this Item to “OFF” (to disable the CW ID
function).
3. When you have made your selection, press and hold in the
[
MHz
(
SET
)]
key for one
second to save the new setting and exit to normal operation.
You may check your work by monitoring the entered callsign. To do this, recall
Set Mode Item “11 CW ID” and press the [MHz(SET)] key, then press the [D/
MR(MW)] key.
