8.2 Cleaning and antifouling painting
ADVICE
Observe the national regulations for processing, application, use and disposal
of antifouling paints. Observe the manufacturer’s instructions and processing
regulations.
General information
You can carry out the following items to keep your Cruise System free from fouling:
■Take the Cruise System out of the water and clean it after each use.
■Regularly clean all the components of the Cruise System that are constantly
under the surface of the water.
■Use an antifouling paint.
Cleaning the components under the surface of the water
■Before cleaning, switch off the Cruise System at the main switch and secure it
against restarting.
■Do not use any tools with sharp edges or abrasive surfaces that may cause
damage to the paint finish on the Cruise System.
Using antifouling paints
When using antifouling paints, we recommend treating all parts of the Cruise System
that are constantly under the surface of the water.
1. Clean the surfaces of the Cruise System that you intend to treat.
ADVICE
Do not use any abrasive materials to roughen up the surfaces, since
otherwise the protective paint finish will be damaged.
ADVICE
The anodes and motor shaft must not be treated with antifouling paint.
2. Carefully tape off the anodes, and possibly also the motor shaft.
3. Observe the treatment instructions and the instructions concerning personal
protection equipment issued by the manufacturer for the specific antifouling
paint.
Permitted antifouling paints
ADVICE
Do not use any antifouling paints containing metals, such as products containing
copper.
■International Trilux 33 in combination with Primocon Sperrgrund primer
■Hempel Silic One in combination with Hempel Light Primer and Hempel Silic One
Tiecoat
■Hempel Hard Racing TecCel in combination with Hempel Underwaterprimer
26030 (only for models from model year 2021)
