5. Place the glass jug on the hot plate by sliding it under the lter holder with drip stop, making sure the spout of the jug
is in the centre, facing the coee machine.
6. Insert the plug of the coee machine in an earthed wall socket. If the plug is already in the socket, but the coee machine
is switched o, briey press the [START/STOP] buon to acvate the operang panel of the coee machine.
7. Press the [GRIND OFF] buon to switch o the grinding funcon. When the indicator led [GRIND OFF] lights up, coee will
be made without rst grinding beans.
8. Select the required coee strength by pressing the [LIGHT] or [STRONG] buon. This determines how quickly the water
passes through the coee. At a low ow rate, the coee has more me to acquire taste and this has an eect on the
strength of the coee. If you wish, press the [STRONG] buon for extra strong coee. The indicator led at the chosen seng
[LIGHT] or [STRONG] lights up.
9. Start the coee machine by pressing the [START/STOP] buon. This buon and the ring-shaped indicator led light up and
coee will be made.
10. Once the ltering process has been completed, a beep will sound and the ring-shaped indicator led lights up connuously.
Take the glass jug from the hot plate and pour the coee. Tilt the glass jug by no more than 45 degrees to avoid spillage.
The hot plate under the glass jug is switched on automacally when making coee and is switched o again aer
35 minutes (three beeps will sound and the ring-shaped indicator led goes out).
11. Coee tastes best immediately aer it has been made, so do not wait too long before serving. The glass jug can
immediately be placed back on the hot plate or you can pour the coee into a thermos jug.
INTERRUPTING THE COFFEE MAKING PROCESS
If you want to interrupt the coee making process, in order to pour a few cups for example, you must press the [START/STOP]
buon to switch o the coee machine temporarily. The ring-shaped indicator led no longer ashes and the [START/STOP]
indicator led lights up connuously. The drip stop prevents the appliance from dripping when you remove the glass jug from
the coee machine.
You can resume the coee making process by placing the glass jug back under the lter holder and pressing the [START/STOP]
buon.
Cauon: If you are making coee with shop bought extra-ne grind coee, press the [GRIND OFF] buon aer the interrupon
to switch o the grinding funcon. In that case the [GRIND OFF] indicator led lights up. If this led is exnguished, new coee
beans will be ground aer the interrupon, which is not what you want.
SWITCHING OFF THE COFFEE MACHINE
Press the [START/STOP] buon for two seconds to switch o the coee machine. The indicator leds switch o, as well as the
hot plate.
Aenon: The hot plate cools down slowly aer switching o and could remain hot for some me.
Do not forget to remove the paper lter bag and throw it away or to remove the permanent lter and rinse it clean. Swing open
the lter holder and remove the lter. Throw away the lter bag. When using the permanent lter, empty it, clean it and use
it again. Allow the appliance to cool down properly rst, before removing the lter.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Regularly clean the coee machine. This is not only benecial for the life span of the appliance, it also ensures opmum use
of the appliance and, of course, good tasng coee.
Cleaning should involve the following:
Prior to cleaning, always check that the coee machine is switched o, cooled down and that the plug has been removed
from the socket.
Remove all separate components from the appliance.
Aer each use, clean all separate components in hot water and a mild washing-up liquid. Then rinse thoroughly with hot
water and wipe dry.
Press the drip stop at the lter outlet upwards a few mes to make sure the lter outlet is dry.
