Start / Stop
How to start a cold engine
1. Place the hedge trimmer on a flat surface.
2. Set the start/stop switch to ”I”. See Fig. 2
3. Push the primer bulb 7 times. It is located behind
the air filter (Fig. 3).
Set the choke arm (b) to start position (c).
See Fig. 4.
4. Hold the engine with one hand and pull the recoil
start handle with the other hand until initial ignitions
are heard (Fig. 5).
5. Set the choke arm (b) to run position (d).
6. Pull the recoil start handle until engine starts.
7. After 6-7 seconds, activate the safety switch (Fig.
6-1) and press the trottle trigger to increase the
engine rpm.
How to start a warm engine
1. Set the choke arm (b) to run position (d), See Fig. 4
2. Hold the engine with one hand and pull the recoil
starter handle with the other hand until the engine
runs (Fig. 5)
3. After 6-7 seconds, activate the safety switch (Fig.
6-1) and the trottle trigger to increase the engine
rpm.
How to stop the engine
1. Release the throttle trigger and the safety switch.
2. Set the switch (e) in the “O” position. See Fig. 7
Recommendations for hedge trimming
Use only the necessary amount of throttle to
perform the task.
Cut from below and up with the blade. See Fig. 10.
Turn the hedge-trimmer 5-10° compared to the
hedge. This makes it easier to cut and the result is
better. See Fig. 11.
Rotatable handle
To give you best and most ergonomic way of trimming
your hedge the rear handle can be rotated by 90
degrees to the right or the left. See Fig. 8.
Lift up the handle (g) and turn the rear handle left or
right into the requested position without pressing the
throttle trigger (f).
If the throttle trigger (f) is activated, the rear handle
cannot be rotated!
Air filter
For correct performance and durability the air filter must
be kept clean:
1. Remove the lid of the air filter (Fig. 14) by
unscrewing the screw (4) that fastens the lid (3).
2. Wash the filter (1+2) in mild soap water. Leave it to
dry. Pour on a little two-stroke oil. Press out any
surplus oil. Replace an old and worn filter.
3. Filter and lid is fitted again. Make sure that the filter
and lid is secured tightened.
Clean the air filter for every 5 hours or more often if
you work in dusty areas.
Spark plug
This machine is equipped with a spark plug with an
electrode distance of 0.6-0.7 mm. See Fig. 15.
For optimal performance it should be replaced once a
year.
The spark plug is located in front of the engine.
Article number for new spark plug (CMR6A): 412906
Storage
1. Empty all fuel into a can approved for petrol.
Let the engine run until it stops.
2. Clean the machine and store the machine frost free
and out of reach for children.
3. Observe all safety precautions concerning safe
storage and handling of gasoline.
Maintenance
Maintenance before and after use
Remove any leaves or branches and dirt from the
machine.
Check for any loose or missing parts. Fasten any
loose parts.
Check for any leakage from the fuel system.
A dirty air filter makes it difficult to start the engine
and lessens the performance of the engine. Check
for any dirt in the filter.
Clean the air filter in warm soap water. It must be
completely dry, before 2-stroke engine oil is
applied.
Lubrication of gear
Notice that the gearbox must be lubricated with grease.
On delivery it is done, but it may be necessary to add
grease later.
The gearbox must be ¾ filled.
The amount of grease should be controlled at least
once a year or after 25 hours of use.
Use the grease nipple (1) below the gearbox (Fig. 18)
and add the grease with a grease pump (not included).
It is recommended to let a authorized service center
add grease to the greabox.
Cleaning the air intake
The engine is air cooled. If dust and dirt is blocking the
cooling rips on the engine, it can make the engine
become too warm and in some cases damage the
engine.
Check and clean the cooling rips regulary.
Anti-vibration system
The system has 2 springs in front (Fig. 12) and 2
springs in the rear (Fig. 13). Check periodically if these
are intact. Deformed or damaged springs can cause
increased vibrations and can damage the engine and
cutting blade.
