Before Initial Use
1. Clean the grill grate and the drip
pan as described in the section
Maintenance and cleaning.
2. Set the appliance onto a level, dry,
and non-slip surface.
3. Use a heat-resistant base for use of
the appliance.
4. Let the appliance warm up for at
least 10 min without food in order to
burn off residues.
5. Some smoke and corresponding
smell may occur on initial use. This is
normal and is caused by the burning
of production residues. The smoke
and the smell disappear after a
short time. Please ensure sufficient
ventilation of the room.
6. The appliance is ready for use.
7. When using the grill, please protect
the floor and surrounding walls from
possible soiling e.g. through grease
splatters.
Operation
1. Lift the grill plate (3).
2. Add approx. 1 litre of cold water into
the drip pan (8) to avoid increased
smoke emission during grilling.
3. If the water level reduces during the
grilling, refill it carefully. Make absolu-
tely sure that no water gets onto the
heating element.
4. Insert the grill plate (3) into the grill.
5. Connect the mains plug (5) to a sui-
table power outlet.
6. Turn the on/off switch and tempera-
ture control (4) to the desired posi-
tion. The indicator light glows while
the heating element heats up. Warm
up the appliance for approx. 10-15
minutes, before you start grilling.
7. You can adjust the temperature with
the temperature control settings 1-5
(just above 1 = low temperature, 5 =
very high temperature). As soon as
the set temperature is reached, the
indicator light goes out.
8. Now the food can be placed onto
the grill plate. If necessary, you can
distribute a bit of cooking oil over the
grill plate.
Please note: Frozen food should be
defrosted completely before grilling.
9. The drip pan (14) catches run-off fat
and cooking juices. Never operate
the BBQ without the drip pan.
10. The handles (15) of the grill are heat-
insulated. Always wear oven or BBQ
gloves when grilling. (Glove Category
II with regard to heat protection, e.g.
DIN-EN 407).
11. Use long-handled cutlery for placing
the food.
CAUTION! To avoid heat build-up,
do not place aluminium foil or other
grilling utensils onto the grill plate.
12. To switch the grill off, turn the on/off
switch temperature control (4) to 0
and disconnect the mains plug (5)
from the socket.
13. Let the appliance cool down for ap-
prox. 20 minutes before moving it.
14. The grill plate (3) and the tempera-
ture control (4) may be removed only
after the appliance has cooled down
completely.
