Using your Rice Cooker
Measuring the rice
The graduations on the inside of the cup should only be used for cooking rice.
1 CUP is approximately 150 g of rice (for 1- 2 people depending on your
appetite).
The plastic cup is only used for measuring rice and cereals and not the water
(except when cooking 1 cup of rice).
Always measure level cups, not heaped.
The word “CUP” means the
measuring cup provided
*
with the rice cooker.

For all uses
Carefully wipe the outside of the bowl, especially the bottom.
Place the bowl inside the appliance, making sure that it is properly in position –
Fig. 1.
Slightly turn the bowl in both directions using both carrying handles so as to
ensure a good contact between the bottom of the bowl and the heating plate –
Fig. 2.
Plug in the appliance at the mains socket. Check the switch is in the “up” position.
The orange “keep warm” light comes on.
Pour the right amount of ingredients and water into the bowl according to the
chosen recipe.
The graduated markings on the inside of the bowl, given in litres and cups, are
for measuring the amount of water when cooking rice. If cooking other foods,
such as cereals or pasta, follow the liquid quantities in the recipes.
Preparing rice
Wash the rice thoroughly in water at least twice and drain. This is important to
remove any excess starch and produce better results when cooking.
Pour the washed rice into the cooker. Add water up to the corresponding mark
(example: 4 cups of rice = water mark 4- see table in recipe book).
To cook 1 cup of white rice (serves 2 small or 1 large portion), use 1 measuring
cup of white rice and then add 1 1/2 measuring cups of water. It is normal for
a little rice to stick on the base when cooking small quantities.
The rice cooker automatically determines the exact cooking time depending on
the quantity of water and rice placed in the bowl.
Put the lid on with the steam vent positioned at the back.
A few tips for better results when cooking rice
Measure the rice and wash it separately under running water. Place the rice in the
bowl with the right quantity of water.
Add salt if required. Allow about half a teaspoon of salt for 4 cups of rice, but you
can adjust this to your personal taste. Remember your Rice Cube uses less water
than when boiling rice, so take care not to add too much salt.
Make sure that the rice is spread over the whole surface of the bowl to ensure
even cooking.
At the end of the cooking time, when the “keep warm” function comes into
operation, stir the rice and leave it in the Automatic Rice Cooker for a few
minutes to obtain perfect results.
How to prepare different foods at the same time
You can use the steam basket to cook another type of food at the same time as
in the cooking bowl. For example, you could choose to cook the rice at the
bottom and the fish at the top. Remember the cooking times for food cooked in
the bottom and in the basket will need to be similar.
For the quantities of water to put into the main bowl, refer to the directions given
in the rice recipes, except for cooking brussel sprouts, potatoes and broccoli. In
this case, you must add 500 ml of water.
Place the steam basket on the bowl – Fig. 6.
Put ingredients in.
Put the lid on.
Plug in the appliance.
Do not switch on until all the previous steps have been completed.
Do not exceed the
maximum indicated
amounts on the bowl.
Check that there is no
foreign matter under the
bowl or on the heating
plate
Fig. 3
Warning: Do not plug the
appliance in until the
previous steps have been
made.
Always add rice first
otherwise you will
have too much water.

Steaming in the basket (for vegetables, fish and fruit)
• Pour water into the bowl as stated in the recipe. As a general guide you need
100 ml - 150 ml water for 15 to 20 minutes steam cooking, except for cooking
brussel sprouts, potatoes and broccoli. In this case, add 500 ml cold water.
• Place the steam basket in the bowl.
• Add the ingredients to the bowl but do not pack food together too tightly as
overfilling the basket may cause food to cook unevenly. Put the lid on.
Cooking
Starting the cooking
Press downwards on the control switch, the red cooking indicator illuminates
showing that cooking has begun – Fig. 4.
When cooking rice, the Automatic Rice Cooker will automatically determine the
exact cooking time, depending on the quantity of water and the ingredients
placed in the bowl.
Automatic keep warm
At the end of cooking, the Automatic Rice Cooker detects the total absorption of
the water and automatically passes to the “keep warm” function. At that
moment, the control switch comes up to its top position and the “keep warm”
indicator lights up in orange – Fig. 5. The Automatic Rice Cooker remains in
“keep warm” position for as long as the appliance is switched on. The keep warm
period for rice should not exceed 1 hour. Smaller quantities should be used
sooner.
Use the spatula to fluff up the rice before serving.
End of cooking
Remove the lid, tilting it slightly so any condensed water drips into the bowl.
Warning: the escaping steam is
vveerryy hhoott
.
Serve with the spoon provided with the appliance and put the lid back.
The food left in the Automatic Rice Cooker remains hot for a possible second helping.
After keeping warm, discard any left over rice.
Take the plug out of the mains socket.
Use the spatula to fluff up the rice before serving.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Cleaning the bowl, the lid and steam basket
Use hot water, washing up liquid and a sponge to clean the bowl, the lid and the
steam basket – Fig. 8. Scouring powders and metal sponges are not
recommended.
If food has stuck to the bottom, allow the bowl to soak for a while before
washing it.
Dry the bowl carefully.
Warning: if the bowl has
been placed incorrectly in
the appliance, cooking will
not begin. During cooking
hot steam will escape from
the steam vent.
When serving, you can
remove the cooking bowl
thanks to the carrying
handles - Fig.7, and put it
on the table.
GB
Do not immerse the

Dishwasher cleaning
You can also wash the bowl, the steam basket and the lid in the bottom shelf of the
dishwasher – Fig. 9. For the bowl, carefully follow the instructions below:
When putting the bowl into the machine, be careful not to damage the non-stick
coating on the dishwasher racks.
After being washed several times in the dishwasher and to renew the non-stick
surface, it is recommended to wipe the whole of the inner surface of the bowl
with a little vegetable oil.
Make sure you put the bowl back into the Automatic Rice Cooker.
Taking care of the bowl
Use a plastic or wooden spoon and not a metal one so as to avoid damaging
the bowl non-stick coating on. To keep the non stick quality for as long as
possible, it is recommended not to cut food in it.
To avoid any risk of corrosion, do not pour vinegar into the bowl.
The colour of the bowl surface may change after using for the first time or after
longer use. This change in colour is due to the action of steam and water and
does not have any effect on the use of the Automatic Rice Cooker, nor is it
dangerous for your health. It is perfectly safe to continue using it.
Other parts of the appliance
Clean the outside of the Automatic Rice Cooker and the cord with a damp cloth and
wipe dry. Do not use aggressive or abrasive products.
Do not use water to clean the inside of the appliance body.
Before putting the appliance away, wind the cord and put it in the bowl with the
attachments.
Important: the brown
marks and scratches that
may appear after many
hours use are not a
problem. We guarantee
that the non stick coating
COMPLIES WITH THE
RULES AND REGULATIONS
on materials suitable for
contact with food.
