26. Never expose your grinder in explosive or inflammable atmosphere.
27. When your grinder can no longer be used, do not abandon it in the surrounding environment. Take it to your dealer who will store
or dispose of it correctly.
28. Always refer to your dealer for any explanations or important maintenance or servicing.
29. Never jerk the cable to disconnect it from the outlet. Keep the cable away from heat, oil, and sharp objects.
30. Disconnect mains connection before replacing the lamp.
31. Check that the new lamp voltage corresponds to the data indicated on the tag applied to the grinding wheel protection.
32. To avoid the risk of cutting yourself, to move the chain grasp it on the connection handle and not on the tooth’s cutting part.
33. Do not start the grinder while you are keeping the grinding wheel with your hands.
34. Protect yourself from electrical shocks. Do not touch with your body any grounded metal surfaces which are not connected with
the machine
35. Do not force the tool while you're working
ATTENTION – SETTING UP THE GRINDER
- The grinder must be positioned in a place protected from dust and dampness, well-lighted, out of the reach of children and far
from gases or other flammable or explosive material or liquids. The grinder must be placed near a suitable earthed socket, so as
to plug it without using dangerous extension cables.
- Fasten the grinder onto a bench with two M8x80 bolts provided (photo 1). For correct bench positioning, use the relevant reference
notches (photo 3).
- As to wall fastening, use an appropriate square bracket (not supplied) (photo 2). Check that the machine is not fixed at the operator’s
eyes height. The machine should be fitted at a max. height of 120-130 cm from ground level.
- Screw the handle to the top of the motor arm using the hexagonal screw M6x25 and the M6 nut provided (photo 17).
- Once the grinder has been properly installed, the grinding wheel may be assembled.
FITTING THE GRINDING WHEEL - WARNING:
- use a grinding wheel suitable for the type of chain to be ground, according to the chains table attached to this handbook (columns
M - N)
- before use, check that the grinding wheels are in perfect condition. Hang the wheels by the central hole and tap them lightly with
a
non-metal object on the side near the perimeter. You should hear a metallic sound. A dull sound means that the wheel is cracked
or broken and must not be used.
- do not force a grinding wheel on the hub and do not modify the diameter of the assembly hole. Use grinding wheels fit for the chain
to be ground.
- to fit the grinding wheel, use only clean hub and flange, free of any damage
- make sure that the outside diameters of the hub and the flange are the same (fig. 1)
- disassemble the auxiliary screen with the spanner 4 provided (photo 4)
- disassemble the screw and the flange (photo 5). Have the grinding wheel identified above slide inside the guard, properly center
the grinding wheel on the hub and re-assemble and tighten the flange with M6x25 screw, using the provided hexagonal spanner 5
(photo 5)
- be careful with the flange assembly, its discharge must look the grinding wheel side (fig. 2)
- if flanges are too tightened, the grinding wheel is likely to break or disintegrate during operation, endangering the operator. To prevent
this hazard, tighten M6x25 screw up to 7 Nm (if possible, check this data with a dynamometric wrench)
- position the auxiliary screen in its seat, at the center of the main grinding wheel’s guard and fasten it with M5x12 screw, using the
provided hexagonal spanner 4 (photo 6).
CHECKING THE GRINDING WHEEL:
- stand beside the wheel, start the grinder and visually check that it does not oscillate either laterally or transversally, causing any
anomalous vibration
- if this occurs, immediately stop the machine and make sure that the wheel has been properly installed. If necessary, replace the wheel
with an original spare part
- with the machine off, check the wheel profile by means of the orange template provided (fig. 3, point C)
- if necessary, after wearing suitable gloves and goggles, start the grinder and retouch the wheel profile with the wheel dresser provided.
Proceed with the utmost care, holding the wheel dresser firmly with both hands. Contact with the wheel turning at high speed is likely
to cause burns or injuries
- before initiating grinding operations, test the assembled grinding wheel at working speed for at least one minute, keeping far from
the machine and checking that nobody is standing on the trajectory of its rotation plane.
N.B.: When the grinding wheel diameter is approx. 105 mm (4.13”) replace it.
START-UP:
- once the machine has been installed, the wheel has been properly assembled and after checking that the wheel’s direction of rotation
is the one indicated on the wheel guard, the machine can be started up
- the machine is provided with a safety switch with release coil – i.e. in case of a sudden blackout, the switch turns off automatically,
leaving the machine in stand-by, in the event of a sudden return of current (to restart the grinder, use the switch again)
- the machine must be connected to outlet (230Vac) or to a USA outlet (120Vac and 10A)
- the outlet must be properly earthed and provided with 10A protective fuses
- the lamp that lights the grinding area turns on upon start-up. If it is not so, replace the lamp before grinding (contact an authorized
service center).
ADJUSTING THE VISE:
The hydraulic vise is equipped with a graduated cam, which indicates five different positions corresponding to five different thicknesses
(gauge) of chains (photo 10)
Cam’s graduated scale: .043=1.10mm – .050=1.27mm - .058=1.47mm - .063=1.60 - .080=2.0mm.
The cam has been designed to position the chain axis in the center line of the vise’s rotation center. The right and left teeth will be uniformly
