STARTING UP THE FIRST TIME & SET UP
When you start up the Vortex for the first time, there are a number of basic settings you will need to
input once.
Linking the brake
The Vortex computer executes an automatic search - magnifying glass is blinking – for a brake
when hooked up to the mains. When a brake has been found the serial number, the firmware version
number and voltage will appear on screen. After 3 seconds you will continue to SET UP.
Weight
Kg is blinking. Change from Kg to Lbs using Arrow up or Arrow down.
Use Arrow right to go to the next step.
Speed
Km is blinking. Change from Km to Mi using Arrow up or Arrow down.
Use Arrow right to go to the next step
Energy
Kcal is blinking. Change from Kcal to Kjoule using Arrow up or Arrow down.
Use Arrow right to go to the next step
If you want to change the settings, press the Arrow up and Arrow down keys simultaneously for 3 seconds. The
entire display will light up, after pressing OK you will enter the SET UP mode.

Information screen
By pressing the Arrow left and Arrow right keys simultaneously for 3 seconds, general information
about the handle bar computer and brake will appear on the display.
Top right scale factor
Centre left firmware version brake
Centre right firmware version handle bar computer
Yellow bar ODO reading
Bottom left body weight (kg/lbs)
Bottom bar speed (km/mi) & symbols for sound and battery
You can leave the information screen by pressing OK which will get you to heart rate settings. The
heart symbol with text HF OFF appears. Using Arrow down you can switch to other possibilities. Use
Arrow right to leave the heart rate belt choice setting.
Heart rate belt analogue
The heart symbol with text HF ON appears. When the heart rate signal is received the actual value
will appear where the three bars next to the heart symbol are.
