3.4 Accessing your DVR remotely using a computer or a mobile
This DVR can easily and securely be accessed remotely from any computer connected to the internet, or a
compatible mobile phone. To achieve this, it is necessary to connect the DVR to your home network, and ensure it is
correctly setup.
3.4.1 Network and P2P settings
To ensure the system is setup properly, you need to find your router’s local IP address, and apply it to the DVR. You
then need to test the connection to the cloud based P2P service. The details required should already be present by
default, however may not match in some cases, so it is necessary to check them first. This should only take a few
minutes.
3.4.1.1 Find your router’s local IP address
The quickest way to do this is to run a program called IP Config on your computer. This is built in to Microsoft
Windows as standard.
The method used to run IP Config differs according to your operating system:
Windows XP
Click “Start”, then “Run...” to display the “Run” dialog
box.
In the “Run” dialog box type cmd and click OK.
A command prompt will open. Type ipconfig /all and
press Enter.
Find the value for “Default Gateway”, this is your
router’s local IP address.
For example, it could be “192.168.1.1”.
You can now close the command prompt window.
Type exit and press Enter, or click the cross at the top
right of the window.
