7. TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM LIKELY CAUSE SOLUTION

1. With the key on «START» the

starter motor does not run.

– starting conditions have not

been met

– badly connected battery

– battery terminals crossed

– at battery

– blown fuse

– wet circuit board

– malfunction on the starter relay

Turn the ignition key to «STOP»

and look for the cause of the

problem:

– check that all starting conditions

are met (see 5.2.a)

– check connections (see 3.4)

– recharge the battery (see 6.2.3)

– replace the fuse (10 A)

(see 6.3.5)

– dry using luke warm air

– contact your Dealer

2. With the ignition key turned to

«START» the starter motor runs

but the engine does not start

– insuciently charged battery

– faulty fuel supply

– faulty ignition

– recharge the battery (see 6.2.3)

– check the level in the tank

(see 5.3.3)

– open the fuel stopcock (if tted)

(see 5.4.1)

– check the fuel lter

– check that spark plug cap is

securely tted

– check that the electrodes are

clean and have the correct gap

between them

3. Starting is dicult or the engine

runs erratically

– faulty carburetion – clean or replace the air lter

– empty the fuel tank and rell with

fresh fuel

– check and replace the fuel lter if

necessary

4. Weak engine performance

during cutting

– forward speed too high in relation

to cutting height

– reduce the forward speed and/or

raise the cutting height

(see 5.4.5)

5. The engine shuts down whilst

working

– the safety devices have cut in

– blown fuse

– check that all starting conditions

are met (see 5.2.b)

– replace the fuse (10 A)

(see 6.3.5)

6. The cutting means do not

engage or do not stop promptly

when they are disengaged

– problems with the engagement

mechanism

– contact your Dealer

7. Uneven cut – cutting-means assembly is not

parallel to the ground

– inecient cutting means;

– check the tyre pressure

(see 5.3.2)

– reinstate the alignment of the

cutting-means assembly in

relation to the ground (see 6.3.1)

– contact your Dealer

8. Unusual vibrations while

working

– cutting-means assembly is full

of grass

– the cutting means are

unbalanced or loose

– loose bolts and screws

– clean the cutting means

assembly (see 5.4.8)

– contact your Dealer

– check and tighten all the engine

and frame bolts

9. Uncertain or ineective braking – the brake is not adjusted

correctly

– contact your Dealer

10. Erratic forward movement,

poor drive when going uphill or

if the machine has a tendency

to rear up

– problems with the belt or the

engagement device

– contact your Dealer
