1. Operating instructions for users and contractors
The installation and use of electrical appliances
must be carried out with due caution in order
to avoid the risk of fire, electric shock or injury.
The equipment must only be used as described
in these instructions. Any use outside of the
manufacturer recommendations could lead to
damage, fire, shock or injury.
The heat requirement of the room should be
matched to the heat output of the unit.
Before using the appliance the instructions
should be read in their entirety and all ap-
propriate handling of the equipment must be
observed.
These instructions should be kept safe-
ly and passed on to any future owner.
In the event of any repair work, hand them

1.1 Unit description
The BHE thermocon towel rail radiator is suit-
able for use as supplementary heating as well
as for drying and warming towels. There are
several levels for hanging these.
The appliance is ready for operation after it
has been fixed on a wall and connected to the
mains by means of the mains plug.
1.2 Operation
The BHE is operated via the control panel on
the front.
The heater is be switched on via the ON/OFF
button (1). Set the room temperature to
between approx. + 6 °C and + 30 °C on the
room thermostat (3).
After the adjusted ambient temperature has
been reached, it will remain constantly, until the
appliance is switched off (the heating capacity
of the appliance must correspond at least to
the necessary heat requirement of the room).
Rapid heating function
With the rapid-heating-function the BHE will
run for the preselected period for continuous
operation, regardless of the temperature set
on the room thermostat.
The heating time can be set at ¼ h, ½ h, 1 h
or 2 h on the short-time timer (6) and is acti-
vated by the rapid-heating button (7).
If the heating time is to be ended before the
end of the set period, the rapid heating button
must be pressed again.
Frost protection
In the event of a lengthy absence, the room
temperature should not fall below approx.
+6 °C (frost protection) and the room ther-
mostat should be turned to the  position
and the appliance must remain switched on
(observe the heating capacity of the appliance
and heat requirement of the room).
Taking the appliance out of operation
In order to take the equipment completely
out of operation, switch it off, take the supply
plug out and stop water supply (via thermo-
static valve).
1.3 Safety instructions
Do not operate the appliance

risks as a result of chemicals, dust, gases
or fumes;
in the immediate vicinity of pipes or con-
tainers which carry or contain combusti-
ble or potentially explosive substances;
if the minimum distances from adjoining
surfaces of objects are not met.
x The surfaces of the appliance get hot when
it is operating (approx. 80 °C). There is a
risk of burns!
x If it is intended that children or persons with
restricted physical, sensory, or mental capac-
ity should operate the appliance, it must be
ensured that this is only done after appropri-
ate instruction has been provided by the
person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the device.
x
Do not cover the device!
Combustible or inflammable objects, such
as containers of wax or petrol, aerosols and
such like, must not be placed on or in the
immediate vicinity of the appliance. Risk of

x For objects of all kinds, such as newspapers,
furniture, curtains and drapes or other com-
bustible materials, the following minimum
distances from the heater must be observed:
bottom 200 mm
sides and top 150 mm
x The surface of the BHE may be hot even
when it is switched off.
x This appliance is intended only for warming
or drying textiles which have been made
damp by water (not dry cleaning).
x Do not climb on the appliance (in particular,
draw children’s attention to this).
x No changes at the equipment must be made.
x Never leave the appliance when in use un-
supervised.
x Special caution is required, if the appliance
is used in the presence of children, invalid
persons or animals. Danger of injury!
x If a part of the appliance is damaged or has
fallen down or it was already defect/malfan-
ctioning, it may no be taken in to operation.
1.4 Care and maintenance
Clean the appliance regularly when it is cold,
using standard care agents. Avoid the use of
abrasive and corrosive agents.
As part of regular maintenance, we recommend
that you have the control and regulating devices
checked as well. Safety, control and regulating
devices should be checked by a qualified installer
not later than 10 years after first start-up.
