Installing HBS 300 Highbay / HBS 200 Highbay
L The line of vision between the HBS 300 High-
bay / HBS 200 Highbay lens and the area it
covers must be clear and unobstructed.
L The sensor should be 2 to 2.5 m away from
heating / cooling supply ducts.
L An installation height of up to 12 m is ideal.
L Sensor must be mounted on a firm surface.
Information of site of installation
The HBS 300 Highbay and HBS 200 Highbay
are generally mounted at a 1/2” knockout at the
end of a luminaire installed at high / normal
level. The sensor's lens should be mounted be-
low the bottom edge of the luminaire.
The EM 1 extender module is recommended if
the knockout at the end of the luminaire is more
than 1.27 cm from the lower edge of the lumin-
aire (see Figure 2.2, page 3).

Wiring up HBS 300 Highbay / HBS 200 Highbay
Before installing, first switch OFF the power
supply and use a voltage tester to make sure
the circuit is dead.
The mains supply lead is a 3-core cable:
Black = Phase (L)
Blue = Neutral (N)
Violet = Load
If in doubt, identify the conductors with a
voltage tester or consult a qualified electrician.

Operating HBS 300 Highbay / HBS 200 Highbay
The HBS 300 Highbay and HBS 200 Highbay
switch light ON automatically when they detect
the presence of persons and OFF again when
the area covered is vacated and the stay-ON
time has elapsed.
Light level function
The light level feature allows lighting to remain
OFF during daylight, regardless of occupancy.
A light level delay-off function prevents the
sensor from responding to temporary changes
in ambient light level. If ambient light level is
brighter than the level set, the sensor will wait
for 60 seconds before turning the light OFF.
If motion is detected within this time, light will
stay ON. After no motion is detected for one
minute and the light level has been greater than
the target value, the lights will turn OFF and re-
main OFF until the daylight level drops below
the light level selected and motion is detected.
Switching ON for the first time
When switching ON for the first time, the lumin-
aire will come on for one minute. The luminaire
switches OFF if no motion is detected. If motion
is detected and the light-level setting is less
than ambient brightness, the luminaire will re-
main switched ON for the stay-ON time selec-
ted (at DIP switch). If ambient light level is
greater than the light level setting, the luminaire
will switch OFF regardless of whether any per-
son is present or not.
Surge protection
The surge protection feature will reset the
sensor automatically after: power surges, power
outages, and power shortages. Surge protec-
tion protects the sensor if it is miswired as well.
If miswired, shut off power, correct the wiring,
and the sensor will then operate correctly.
Setting and starting up HBS 300 Highbay / HBS 200 Highbay
L Make sure the sensor is in test mode.
- Set stay-ON time to at least 15 sec.
- Set light level to maximum (“day” setting,
light-level function overridden - factory
setting)
L Turn power ON at main switch (light switches
ON). After a warm up period of up to one
minute, lights will turn OFF if the sensor does
not detect motion.
L Walk into the sensor's line of vision, the light
should switch ON. The light should go out if
you remain still for 15 sec.
Test mode
Light level
The light-level function keeps the light switched
OFF during the day regardless of whether any
person is present or not. Daylight operation is
set at 2000 lux (factory setting). Night-time op-
eration is set at 2 lux.
Light-level teach mode
The light-level teach mode senses the level of
ambient light in the area covered and selects
this amount for the light-level setting.
L Set light level to
L Ambient light level is memorised after 10 sec.
L This level remains memorised even after a
power failure if the potentiometer is set to
teach mode when the light is switched ON.
High
Light level: 2 (night) to 2000 (day) lux
