CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
CLEANING THE STEAM / HOT WATER OUTLET
The steam / hot water outlet should be cleaned after every time milk is
steamed.
Proceed as follows:
1. The appliance has to be plugged into a power outlet and turned on by pressing
the ON/OFF button. As soon as all 4 buttonframes constantly light up blue, press
the steam mode button and the appliance will start to preheat for the steam
function. Wait until the blue steam mode button lights up constantly.
2. Lower the steam / hot water outlet back down over the holes in the drip tray
with the heat insulated rubber grip, turn the steam / hot water control counter-
clockwise to the maximum steam position and shoot some steam into the drip
tray for a couple of seconds to clean the steam / hot water outlet from remaining
milk residues.
3. Turn the steam / hot water control off again and turn off the steam mode by
pressing the steam mode button. Afterwards turn off the appliance by pressing
the ON/OFF button and let the appliance cool down.
4. Clean the steam / hot water outlet with a damp cloth.
5. Screw the steam nozzle off the steam / hot water outlet and clean it with some
mild dish soap and rinse it with clear water.
6. If the nozzle is clogged, try clearing the opening of the nozzle with a needle.
Should it still be clogged put the nozzle in a glass with hot water for a while and
try cleaning it again with a needle.
7. Screw the nozzle back on the the steam / hot water outlet.
CLEANING THE FILTER INSERTS,
THE PORTAFILTER AND THE BREWING HEAD
Regularly let hot water run through the brewing group with the portafilter in-
serted, but empty (with inserted filter, but without ground coffee). This will flush
potential coffee powder remains from the brewing group.
Wash the portafilter and the filter inserts separately and by hand in warm dishwa-
ter and rinse everything under running water. Dry well afterwards.
Every 2 months the brewing head should be screwed off the appliance and
cleaned under fresh water with a dishscrubber.
We recommend periodically cleaning the brewing head, the portafilter and the
filter inserts with SOLITABS to remove coffee grease and other residues (approx.
every month, at least after 250 cups). For the exact process, please refer to the
instructions included with SOLITABS.
CLEANING THE CASING AND THE CUP TRAY
Before the casing is cleaned, the appliance has to switched off and un-
plugged.
Clean the casing and the cup tray with a soft, slightly moist cloth, then dry it with
a dry cloth.
In general, do not use any abrasive or aggressive cleaning agents, rough
sponges or cloths, as they might scratch the surface.
CLEANING THE DRIP TRAY WITH DRIP GRID
Before cleaning the drip tray, the appliance has to be switched off and un-
plugged.
Remove, empty and clean the drip tray with drip grid regularly and every time it is full.
Remove the drip grid and pull the drip tray out to the front. Hand wash the drip tray
and the drip grid with warm dishwater. Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents
or scouring sponges. Rinse the tray and the grid with clear water and carefully dry
both parts.
CAUTION: Drip tray and drip grid are not dishwasher safe.
Reinsert the drip tray and place the grid back on the drip tray.
