2. Windscreen Mounting
The S6-RLD can also be mounted on the windscreen of your vehicle as
long as it does not have a ’Heat Reflective’ or ’Comfort’ style windscreen.
These are sometimes found on newer Renault, Citroen and Peugeot
vehicles. If you are unsure as to whether your vehicle is fitted with this
style of screen please contact your local dealer or call our technical
helpline on 0870 787 0700. The S6-RLD can be mounted anywhere in
the windscreen as long as it has an unobstructed view of the road ahead.
Follow these instructions to mount the S6-RLD using the suction-cup
mounting bracket provided.
-
Install the suction cups onto the bracket by fitting them into the holes (A).
- Find a position on the windscreen to mount the unit, so that the view
from the front of the detector is through clear glass and is not obscured
by any metallic objects such as the windscreen wipers.
- Clean the area where you wish to position the bracket thoroughly with a
good quality glass cleaner.
- Carefully bend the bracket so that when it is mounted on to the
windscreen with the S6-RLD attached, the unit is in as horizontal a
position as possible.
- Slide the S6-RLD onto the bracket until it is secure (B).
- To remove the S6-RLD simply slide the unit off the bracket from the
front.
- Finally feed the cable from the S6-RLD to the S6 GPS control panel,
concealing it as well as possible and plug it into the socket marked ’RD’
on the side of the control panel.

6. Vehicle speed
This is a selectable feature that gives you the choice of having your
vehicles speed displayed constantly on the screen of your S6. Your S6
comes with this option turned on as the factory default setting. To change
this setting, please refer to the following instructions.
From the Standby screen press the button below ’Menu’ on the LCD
display and then using the buttons below the Up and Down arrows, scroll
the display until the screen ’SHOW SPEED’ is highlighted and press
’Select’. Then using the buttons below the arrows on the display, highlight
your desired setting, either ’ON’ or ’OFF’. Once you have made your
choice press the ’Select’ button. The screen will read ’SETTING
CONFIRMED’ to confirm your selection and will return to the Menu
screen.
Note: To return to the Menu screen from the Sub Menu screen, press
the button below ’Back’ (2) on the display. To return to the Standby
screen from the Menu screen press the same button, which will now say
Cancel . If no buttons are pressed on the device for a period of five
seconds the screen will automatically return to the Standby display.
Please note that there could be a satellite delay of one or two seconds
therefore the speed indicated by the device may be different to your
actual speed. Always check your speedometer for confirmation of
your vehicles speed.
7. Camera detection settings
There are a number of different ways that you can programme your S6 to
locate ’fixed’ cameras such as Gatso cameras and Truvelo cameras. You
can choose between three different Logic Modes and have the option of
Smart Mute. The following information describes the specification of each
different option.
Logic Mode 1 (Factory default setting) - If you select Logic Mode 1,
your S6 will give you your chosen audible alert as well as a visual alert of
Gatso and Truvelo cameras on both sides of the road. If you encounter a
series of SPECs cameras the S6 has been designed to only ever detect
systems on your side of the carriageway.
Logic Mode 2 - If you select Logic Mode 2, your S6 will give you your
chosen audible alert as well as a visual alert of Gatso and Truvelo
cameras on your side of the road but will only give you a visual alert of
lower risk cameras that are monitoring vehicles coming towards you on
the other side of the carriageway. The S6 will still only alert you to SPECs
systems that are on your side of the road.
Logic Mode 3 - If you select Logic Mode 3, your S6 will give you your
chosen audible alert as well as a visual alert of Gatso and Truvelo
cameras on your side of the road but will only give you a Soft Tone
Audible Alert and a Visual alert of lower risk cameras that are monitoring
vehicles coming towards you on the other side of the carriageway. The S6
will still only alert you to SPECs systems that are on your side of the road.
