7.5 Perform Manual Online Update
Requirements:
☐ The computer must have a connection to the Internet.
1. If there is a proxy server in your network, apply settings for the proxy server. The proxy settings
are used for connecting to the SMA Update Portal and for Sunny Design software updates:
• Activate the "Use proxy server" check-box.
•In the "Settings" area, enter the proxy server address in the "Proxy server address" field and
enter the proxy server's network port in the "Port" field.
• To use authentication, activate the "Use authentication" check-box. In the "Settings" area,
enter your user name for the proxy server in the "User name" field and enter your password
in the "Password" field.
☑ The settings for the proxy server are applied.
2. Select Tools > Perform online update.
☑The "Online update" window opens.
3. Select the components for which you need updates. At least 1 of the following components must
be selected:
• Program components and information
• Databases for inverters, locations and PV modules
4. Select [Start].
☑ Start searching for updates. Search status is displayed in the status bar.
☑ Sunny Design automatically installs the found updates after a successful search.
✖ What if the update search does not start or is interrupted?
Your computer is not connected to the Internet or to the SMA Update Portal.
• Ensure that there is a connection to the Internet and if necessary inform the system
administrator.
