Charging battery #
- battery of new tools is not fully charged
- plug charger J into wall socket
- insert charger plug K into battery as illustrated
- charging light H turns on indicating that the battery is
being charged
- after 3 hours the charging operation will be completed,
and the battery may be used
IMPORTANT:
- do not charge at temperatures below 0°C and over
40°C; this will seriously damage the battery as well as
the charger
- while charging, the charger and the battery may
become warm to touch; this is normal and does not
indicate a problem
- do not remove battery from tool while it is running
! a battery that is new or has not been used for a
longer period does not develop its full capacity
until after approximately 5 charging/discharging
cycles
- do not repeatedly recharge the battery after only a few
minutes of operation; this may result in a reduction of
operating time and battery eciency
- the battery must be kept separate from the natural
environment and should not be disposed of as normal
domestic waste (symbol 0 will remind you of this
when the need for disposing occurs)
! prior to disposal protect battery terminals with
heavy tape to prevent short-circuit
- if you anticipate long periods of non-use for the tool, it
is best to unplug the charger from its power source
Changing batteries $
- press button G and slide o battery
- mount battery by sliding it onto tool until it snap-locks
Changing scissor heads %
! remove battery from tool
- lift button B and hold it while sliding o scissor head
- mount scissor head by sliding it onto tool as illustrated
until it snap-locks
Operating the tool
- before using the tool, unplug the charger and
disconnect the tool from the charger
- remove blade protection cap L 2
- switch on the tool
- let the cutting blades run freely for a few seconds
before starting the cut
- do not apply too much pressure on the tool; let the tool
do the work for you
- both straight and curved cuts can be made in an
accurate manner
! the cutting blades become hot during use; do not
touch them before they have cooled down
Cutting materials ^
- use scissor head C 2 for cutting soft and exible
materials such as paper, curtains, carpet, leather,
wallpaper, vinyl, foil, etc.
- scissor head C carries symbol D 2 to indicate soft
and exible materials
- cutting tough materials (such as hard plastics and tin
sheets) with scissor head C 2 will sooner blunt the
blades; we therefore advise to use scissor head E 2
(available as part of SKIL accessory 2610397158) for
cutting tough materials
- observe the following maximum material thicknesses
in order to prevent damaging the blades:
WHEN USING SCISSOR HEAD FOR SOFT
MATERIALS:
cotton fabrics 3 mm
felt 6 mm
leather 4 mm
carpet (backing) 4 mm
vinyl oor-covering 4 mm
corrugated cardboard 6 mm
solid cardboard 2 mm
rose stems 4 mm
WHEN USING SCISSOR HEAD FOR TOUGH
MATERIALS:
vinyl oor-covering 4 mm
corrugated cardboard 6 mm
solid cardboard 2 mm
plastic straps 1.8 mm
plastic sheets (PVC, etc.) 1.25 mm
tin/aluminium sheets 0.4 mm
! do not cut metals other than tin/aluminium
sheets
- always test out rst on a piece of scrap material
! do not attempt to sharpen the cutting blade
surfaces; replace the scissor head when the
cutting blades are worn or damaged
APPLICATION ADVICE
For working continuously you may use an additional
interchangeable battery (available as SKIL accessory
2610397159) enabling you to charge one battery while
using the other
