Thermal safety cut-out
The pre-set thermal safety cut-out protects the heating
element from overheating should the appliance be
erroneously switched on without any water, or if the heating
plate is calcied. Should this occur, all indicators are
ashing. In such a case, the appliance must be allowed to
cool down, or must be descaled, before it is switched on
again.
Automatic switch-off
Unless the ‘keep-warm’ mode has been selected, the
kettle will switch off automatically around 3 minutes after
the last operation.
In the ‘keep-warm’ mode, it switches off after 60
minutes.
To re-activate the appliance, place the container on
the base, or press the buttons WATER START/STOP
or TEA START/STOP.
Before using for the rst time
Unpack the appliance completely and remove all
packaging materials and stickers.
To clean the kettle, boil (with the tea lter in place) and
discard the rst lling of water.
Operation
‘Silent’ function
If the Tea Strength button is pressed for more than 3
seconds, the beep signals are deactivated. In this case,
all acoustic signals listed in these instructions are also
switched off.
Pressing the button again for more than 3 seconds will
cancel the ‘Silent’ function.
General remarks
Connect the appliance to the mains. A beep signal is
heard and the current water temperature in the container
(≥ 20 °C) is shown on the left in the display.
The appliance is in stand-by mode and ready for use.
The display goes out after 3 minutes of non-use.
To re-activate the appliance, place the container on the
base, or press the buttons WATER START/STOP or
TEA START/STOP.
When selecting temperatures below 100 °C, the
heating process takes place in steps, to ensure that the
temperature selected is not exceeded. In this case, the
heating phase will take a bit longer, but it also ensures
that the selected temperature is not exceeded, so that
the tea can develop its full aroma.
If the current temperature inside the container exceeds
the temperature selected, the appliance cannot be
started.
Temperatures below 40 °C cannot be selected.
Quick-boil function
When placing the water container onto the base and
pressing the WATER START/STOP button, the water is
heated to 100 °C without the need to set a temperature.
Pressing WATER START/STOP again stops the heating
process
Heating water
Remove the water container from its base and open the
lid. Remove the tea lter.
Fill the container with water to the desired level,
observing the Min (0.5 l) and Max (1.7 l for heating
water) markings.
Close the lid.
Place the container back on its base.
Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket.
The display shows the current water temperature inside
the container.
Turn the KeepWarm control to select the desired
temperature.
Press the WATER START/STOP button. The button
lights up blue. The selected brewing temperature
(BREW TEMP) ashes briey in the display. The water
is now heated to the selected temperature. The current
water temperature is shown on the display.
Once the pre-set temperature has been reached, the
WATER START/STOP button light goes out, three beep
signals are heard and the current temperature is shown
on the display.
The appliance goes into stand-by mode. The kettle will
switch off automatically around 3 minutes after the last
operation.
The boiling process may be interrupted by pressing the
WATER START/STOP button.
To pour hot water, remove the container from its base.
To prevent hot steam from being emitted, ensure that
the lid remains closed while pouring out the water.
Do not leave any residual water in the container.
Making tea
Preparing the appliance
Remove the water container from its base and open the
lid. Take out the tea lter by its ring, pulling it up with
gentle force.
Fill the container with water to the desired level,
observing the Min (0.5 l) and Max (1.0 l for making tea)
markings.
Take off the tea lter lid and put the required amount of
tea into the lter. Replace the lid, pushing it down.
Fit the lter to the upper part of the mounting in
the container, so that its arms securely enclose the
mounting.
Close the lid and replace the container on the base.
Start tea preparation either by programme selection or
individual setting.
