Bijvullen en stoken
Wanneer het hout volledig is opgebrand en enkel een gloeiende aslaag overblijft, kan er bijgevuld worden.
Het is belangrijk dat de deur niet geopend wordt als er vlammen in de haard zijn, aangezien dit tot
rookoverlast in de kamer kan leiden.
Voor het bijvullen moet de volgende werkwijze gevolgd worden:
1. Zorg voor maximale luchttoevoer (uiterst links)
2. Om de onderdruk te minimaliseren moet de deur ca. één minuut op een kier staan, voordat deze
langzaam geopend wordt
3. Leg 2 — 3 stukken hout in de verbrandingskamer en sluit de deur
4. Verminder de luchttoevoer zodra het vuur goed brandt
TIP Voor een goede verbranding voegt u best regelmatig een kleine hoeveelheid hout toe. Dit is beter
dan in één keer veel hout in de haard te stoppen.
Wanneer men de zuurstoftoevoer naar het vuur te veel belemmert, dan verloopt de verbranding onvolledig
en komen er veel schadelijke stoffen vrij. Om de negatieve gevolgen hiervan te vermijden (bv. roet- en
teervorming) laat men de haard best bij ieder gebruik gedurende een half uur op vol vermogen branden.
Vermijd ook het overmatig toevoegen van brandstof (zie technische gegevens voor de aangepaste
hoeveelheid). Als gevolg daarvan komt er te veel warmte vrij en kan de temperatuur in de haard te hoog
oplopen. Houtbriketten hebben een beduidend hogere energetische waarde dan hardhout. Gebruik daarom
minstens 20% minder brandstof.
