Thank you for purchasing Sunshine®, the dawn simulator from Rowenta, specially developed to
help you awake easier thanks to its progressive lighting combined with gentle or invigorating
sounds.
How light affects the organism
We all need light. It has an effect on our body clock, based on the regular rhythm of day and night.
Indeed, the morning light naturally gets our body clock by stimulating the release of cortisol, the
wakeup and energy hormone. In the evening, the fading light tells our body that it is time to start
producing melatonin, a hormone that prepares us for sleep. Consequently, it is important to ensure
that our organism records day and night at the right time, as incorrect synchronisation upsets the
sleep-wakening rhythm and lays us open to low energy conditions and trouble getting to sleep.
Every morning, Sunshine® shines a coloured light that recreates a true red-orange hue "sunrise"
effect for an energy stimulating effect on mind and body.
Sunshine®'s action:
Sunshine® by Rowenta gently prepares you for waking by simulating a natural sunrise: the eyes
register the progressively increasing light which tells the body that it is time to release cortisol. The
body's temperature then starts to rise as it does every day and you wake up gently, naturally.
As everyone has their own level of light sensitivity the brightness of Sunshine® can be adjusted
to match your own needs and start your day relaxed and full of energy.
Sunshine® also sends you gently off to sleep. In the evening you can set your appliance's "soft
sleep" function so the light will gradually dim and go out and you progressively drift off to sleep.
