ROTWILD USER MANUAL
Check the hoses and connections
regularly for any leaks. If hydraulic oil
leaks out, immediately call on a specia-
list dealer, because a leak can make the
brakes ineective. Check if you can attain
a denite pressure point. Check the wear
on the pads regularly in the viewing panel
of the brake calliper. Pull the brake lever
and check if the mounting plate of the pad
comes close to the disk. Although, in prin-
ciple, the pad material can be fully used
up, it is recommended that the pads are
changed in time. On longer rides the worn-
out pads can damage the brake disc.
Brake lever
Brake levers that can be squeezed
through all the way to the handlebar grip,
or worn brakes, can lead to insucient
braking eciency and prevent you stop-
ping in time to avoid falls or accidents
in which you and/or other persons may
be injured. Please make sure your brakes
function correctly before every ride.
Rubbing brakes
If your brake blocks rub against the disc
while riding, please check the following
potential causes:
The braking system is insuciently
„run-in“.
Check whether your wheel is seated
correctly in its axle mounting.
Check whether your wheel quick-re-
leases are secure.
Check the gap between the brake pads
and the brake discs.
Permanent rubbing of the brake
pads can lead to overheating and a reduc-
tion of braking eciency. The brakes are
an essential safety-relevant component
of your bike. Malfunctions can lead to
serious accidents. For matters concerning
your brakes, please consult a qualied
professional workshop.
Road bike brakes
Wear on the rubber brake pads may lead
to misalignment of the pads on your
rims. To avoid risks, it is necessary that
you regularly check the alignment of
the brake shoes to the rims. There must
always be a safety distance of 1-2 mm
to the bottom edge of the rim. The top
edge (close to the tyre) requires a safety
distance of 1mm. Check for wear and
correct alignment of the brake shoes, and
replace the blocks in good time, to ensure
safe braking at all times.
SHIFTING
Your ROTWILD mountain bike is equipped
with a chain gear shift system. The gears
are distributed over chain rings on the
crank and sprockets on the rear wheel.
The various gears are selected according
to the terrain or desired speed by the shift
levers mounted on the handlebars.
To avoid damage to the chain, spro-
ckets and derailleur system, only change
gear when the bike and pedals are in
motion. Never back-pedal while changing
gear.
Tips on how to change gear correctly
To prevent unnecessary wear and
damage to your gear system, you
should always change gear smoothly
and without excessive force and always
