ROTWILD USER MANUAL
systems with which bikes are attached
by their saddles and handlebars are not
permitted because these parts would be
subjected to unnecessarily high stresses
during transportation – risk of damage!
Make sure that the jaw-fastenings for the
down tube are suitable for aerodynamic
proles. Be sure to read the instruction
for your roof-carrier carefully and observe
the recommended speed limits. Take note
of the increased overall height of your
vehicle and note this on a conspicuous
sticker applied to the dashboard or stee-
ring wheel as a reminder.
Rear-end carrier
Make sure that your bike does not extend
beyond the sides of your vehicle. Make
sure that the number plate, indicators,
rear lights, brake lights and reectors are
not obscured by the carrier and/or your
bike. If you have any questions, please
contact your ROTWILD dealer – they
can also provide you with comprehen-
sive information about ROTWILD carrier
systems.
Transport in vehicles
As a rule, this is the safest way to trans-
port your bike.
Make sure that your bike is securely
fastened inside the vehicle. Use elastic
lashing belts or similar.
If the bike is transported on its side,
make sure that cables and leads are
not bent too much.
When travelling by air and generally
when travelling make sure there is
enough protection for the frames and
stem. For example, use hard-top cases
for transportation.
When transporting with disassembled
front and/or rear wheel it is recommen-
ded to t an appropriate distance piece
(100 mm front wheel / 135/142 mm
MTB or 130 mm road bike rear wheel)
in order to avoid damage.
Quick-releases
Quick-releases consist of a cantilever on
one end that translates a lever movement
into a clamping force by means of a cam.
On the other end is the so-called pre-
tensioning nut which is adjusted on the
threaded axle.
Tips for using quick-releases.
The quick-release lever for your wheels
should always be on the left side.
Due to the dierent axle lengths of the
front (100/110 mm) and rear (135/142
mm) wheels, your ROTWILD bike
has two quick-releases with dierent
lengths.
Open the quick-releases until the
inscription OPEN faces towards you.
When you want to close it again, you
will nd that the lever closes easily
to about the half-way point – i.e. no
locking function.
During the second half of the closing
procedure, the eort needed to close
the release must increase considerably
until the lever can only be moved with
the ball of your hand.
In its nal position, the lever must be
parallel to the forks or rear assembly.
