ROTWILD USER MANUAL
IMPORTANT NOTES ON THE FRAME
ROTWILD mountain bike, tour and road
bike frames are handmade from premium
quality aluminum alloys or carbon bre.
ROTWILD mountain bikes are available
with and without rear wheel suspension.
The frame is the heart of your bike bike.
All ROTWILD are constructed with frames
to match the stresses of their intended
use.
Excessive stresses, accidents or falls
may lead to potentially dangerous frame
damage. If you should detect damage to
your frame, or if you have had an acci-
dent or fall, please contact your dealer as
soon as possible!
Special instructions carbon frames
Please note, that when being damaged,
there is a fundamental dierence in
behaviour between the materials carbon
and aluminum. As opposed to aluminum,
carbon does not show dents (typical
aluminum-damage-symptoms). The eect
of an impact rst occurs on the inside
of the carbon tube (splice). After a crash
the frame needs to be inspected by your
authorized dealer. In case of any evidence
of the carbon structure being damaged,
the frame needs to be replaced. Smaller
damages can be repaired by the use of
resin (epoxide). In order to do so, it is
essential to follow the instructions given
by the manufacturer. In case of damaged
bres be very cautious when handling
them. There is an eminent risk of injury
when handling ne carbon bres.
It is essential to repair damages of the
paint, in order to prevent the materi-
als from absorbing moisture. Entering
moisture can aect the characteristics of
the material in a negative way: Delami-
nation may occur. As opposed to carbon
bre, resin might macerate and therefore
cause residual stress on the interface
between the bre and the matrix.
Please be aware of the particular
pressure sensitivity of the carbon material
when being clamped. Therefore always
use a torque wrench when clamping car-
bon tubes and note the given tightening
torques.
Make sure the surface is free of grease.
By using a special carbon mounting paste
(CFP-mounting paste) the tightening tor-
ques can be clearly reduced. Please don’t
ever clamp your frame into a work stand.
Always use the seatpost.
