45ROTWILD USER MANUAL | 2014
Before you start on removing the rear wheel,
shift the chain on to the smallest rear spro-
cket. This makes it easier to remount the rear
wheel later.
Now open the rear quick-releases and un-
screw the tensioning nut by 3 or 4 turns.
When removing the rear wheel, it may be
necessary to pull the rear derailleur back to
allow the wheel to be removed more easily
from the axle mounts.
BICYCLE CARE
With your decision to purchase a ROTWILD bike
you are now the owner of a high-quality product
that requires regular care and attention.
The best protection against damaging environ-
mental influences is regular washing and conser-
vation, in particular when using your bike in the
winter months. Salt and dirt work their way into
bearings and attack the paint finish of your bike.
For washing, use only a soft sponge and
clear water.
Give a final polish with a soft cloth or leather.
Repair slight damage to the finish imme-
diately. Paint repair sticks are part of the
accessory kit provided with your bike.
When necessary, treat your bike with a
proprietary conservation and corrosion
prevention product.
Please do not use any polish at matte
varnish, as this can lead color changes.
Remove the following forms of dirt as soon as
possible:
Traces of sweat
Insect remains, bird droppings, resins
Oil and grease, tar spots.
Never clean your bike with a steam cleaner, a
high-pressure water jet cleaner or an intense
stream of water. Water may enter the bearings
and may also damage the finish of your bike.
Keep your eyes open!
Look out for damage, bending or discolouration
while cleaning your bike. If in doubt about what
to do, contact your ROTWILD dealer.
Potential accident risk
The brake discs must not come into contact
with conserving products, oils, greases or other
lubricants. If this should happen, clean your
brake discs with brake cleaner. Have your brake
pads checked at regular intervals by a qualified
professional bicycle workshop and have them
replaced if necessary.
Risk of poisoning
Always store cleaning materials in closed con-
tainers and out of reach of children. Please read
the instructions carefully before use.
Tyre care
Check your tyre pressure at least once every
month. If your bike has been standing on flat
tyres for some time, this may damage your
tyres.
The best way to store your bike is to hang it
in a dry and well ventilated room.
Do not store your bike for long periods in
rooms with a temperature of over 40°C.
Always make sure your tyres have the
correct pressure and sufficient profile. Riding
with too low tyre pressure, over kerbstones,
sharp-edged obstacles, potholes etc. may
cause damage to your rims and tyres.
