Height-Adjustable Push Handles (Fig. 6.42)
These handles are secured with pins to prevent them from sliding out
uninten tion ally. Opening the quickrelease
lever makes it possible to adjust the height of the push handles
to meet your individual needs. As you move the lever, you will hear a
locking mecha nism; you may now easily position the push handle as
desired. The nut on the tension lever
determines how tightly the push handles are clamped into place. If the
nut is loose after adjusting the tension lever, the push handle will also
be too loose. Turn the push handle from side to side before use to
make sure that it is clamped securely enough into place. After
adjusting the handle height, always clamp the tension lever securely
into place. If the lever is not secure, injuries could result when
ascending stairs.

Fold-Down Push Handles (Fig. 6.43)
If the push handles are not in use, they can be folded down by
depressing the button, (1). When they are needed again, simply flip
them back up until they click into place.

Anti-tip tubes
Anti-Tip Tubes (Fig. 6.44)
Anti-tip tubes (1) provide additional safety for inexperienced users
when they are still learning how to operate their wheelchairs. Anti-tip
tubes (1) prevent a wheelchair from tipping over backwards. The anti-
tip tube (1) can be swung downwards by pushing it or rotated
forwards. There should be a gap of 30 mm to 50 mm to the floor. To go
up or down a step (e.g. kerb) the anti-tip tubes must be swung
forwards, to prevent them from touching the ground.
CAUTION!
Do not insert both buttons of the anti tip tube into the frame tube as
this could damage the anti Tip and cause a loss of effectiveness.
By pushing on the Second exposed release button, the safety wheels
can be set upwards or removed. There must always be a gap of
between 30 mm and 50 mm between the tube and the ground. You
must swing the safety wheels upwards when going up and down large
obstacles (such as a kerb) to prevent them from touching the ground.
Then rotate the safety wheels back down to the normal position (Fig.
6.44).
WARNING!
Incorrect set up of the anti tips will increase the risk of a rearwards tip.
