INSTALLATION

• You should fit at least one CO detector near to
or inside every bedroom or living room.
• You should fit at least one CO detector on every
floor.
• For enhanced protection, fit a CO detector at
least 6 metres from heat source that use fuel.
NEVER install a carbon monoxide detector:
• Within 6 metres of your central heating boiler or other sources of heat that burn fuel, or appli-
ances such as a kettle.
• In garages, kitchens or places where your central heating boiler is located. In extremely dusty or
greasy environments.
• In extremely humid areas. This detector should be fitted at least 3 metres from a bath, shower or
washing machine. In spaces with high levels of moisture.
• In areas where the temperature can fall below 0°C or rise above 45°C.
• In moving air, such as near to ceiling fans, heating pipes, air conditioning, open windows. Air
streams will mean that carbon dioxide only reaches the sensor for a short time.
• Outdoors or in direct sunlight.
IMPORTANT: Carbon monoxide is almost as
light as air and spreads easily through rooms
and houses. Position the CO detector at least
1.5 above the ground, no lower!
IMPORTANT: : This detector has been designed for use in a small family home. It has not been
designed for use in shared accommodation areas. In these cases, a detector should be fitted in
each housing unit.
SENSOR FAULT
The detector will automatically check the sensor every 2
minutes. If the detector is not working properly, the yellow
FAULT light will illuminate and the display will show “Err”.
The sensor check will be carried out every 10 seconds and
an alarm will sound.
If the sensor is working correctly, the detector will return to
stand-by mode.

IMPORTANT: The detector may give a FAULT signal for certain gases which are not harmful to
humans (e.g. alcohol). Remove the batteries and place the detector in the open air for 24 hours.
If the detector shows the FAULT indicator again, replace it immediately.
