- The stone can also become discoloured or darker. This discoloration has no influence on the proper
operation of the appliance.
- Small pieces of meat, fish, and so on are ready more quickly and cook better than large pieces.
- Use a wooden or plastic spatula in the pans and on the grill plate. Do not use any metal silverware, as
it can damage the no-stick layer.
STONE GRILL & GRILL PLATE
- Insert the plug in the outlet and switch on the appliance. Wait at least 20 minutes for it to heat up.
- Before grilling, sprinkle salt on the stone.
- Do not place any food on the stone or grill plate until it has reached the right temperature. Watch the
food while grilling and turn it around regularly with a wooden spatula. Is best not to prick meat, as the
juices will run out and diminish the flavour.
- The stone of the stone grill is natural stone. Natural stone stores heat, so you can switch off the
appliance 10 minutes before the grilling is done.
- While frying, we recommend that you remove any bits of food from the stone or grill plate with a
wooden spatula.
- Turn meat and fish only once; this it will prevent it from drying out. For the same reason, it is better
not to prick the meat with a fork or other sharp object; use a spatula instead.
TO MAKE RACLETTE
You can make delicious little dishes at the table with the raclette pans. Let your imagination run wild, or
try the tips in this little booklet.
You will also find recipes for raclette dishes; a delicious, festive idea based on traditional alpine cuisine.
For raclette you use the little pans. Not meat, but (melted) cheese is the main ingredient.
For all types of cooking, the stone and the grill plate must be placed on the appliance. You cannot fry
anything in the pans without the stone and grill plate. Otherwise too much heat will escape from the top.
- Never place any pans under the hot stone or under the grill plate.
- Place the filled pans under the stone or grill plate on the stainless steel sheet.
- The little pans can also be used on the stone or grill plate to keep sauces hot, for example,
- If the pans are used on the stone or grill plate, they will not become hot enough for frying.
- Meat and fish can be grilled in the pans, but the meat must be thinly sliced.
You can give the ingredients you have grilled on the stone a crusty layer of cheese by using this “au gra-
tin” method:
- Place the fried or grilled ingredients in a pan and cover with a slice of cheese.
- Place the pan on the bottom plate.
- Once the cheese has melted, remove the pan from the appliance.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE STONE
The stone is a natural product. During use, little cracks can appear in the stone; this is totally normal and
is not covered by the guarantee.
Before storing the appliance, a few special measures must be taken. To keep the stone and grill plate in
perfect condition, keep the appliance in a perfectly dry place (slightly heated in the winter).
If the stone has been in a damp place, allow the stone to dry and “sweat it out” before you switch on the
appliance again.
If the stone has been in a damp place for a long time, allow the stone to heat up slowly (2-3 hours) in an
oven with a maximum temperature of 210°F, or let the stone stand at room temperature for 2 days.
- Avoid bumping the stone when you move it.
- Also avoid thermal shocks:
- Never place very cold or frozen food on the hot stone or on the grill plate.
- Never spray cold water on a hot stone; it could cause the stone to break.
- Never move the stone while it is still hot (you could burn yourself or cause cracks in the
stone).
- Never place heavy objects on the stone. Only place food on the stone.
- When cooking marinated meat, take into account that the (flavour of the) herbs will be
drawn into the stone, which can discolour it and also alter the flavour of the food you fry
the next time.
