▪ Do not drop metal tools onto the battery. Be cautious in the use of metal tools near the
car battery. Contact between metal and the positive car battery post may cause a spark or
short circuit the car battery or electrical component that may cause an explosion.
▪ Remove metal personal items such as rings, bracelets, watches, and chains when
working near a lead-acid battery. Contact between a metal item and the positive car
battery post can produce a short circuit current high enough to cause a severe burn.

7 CHARGING AND RECHARGING
7.1 Recharging – charging from the appropriate AC power source
▪ Put the ‘POWER’ switch into the ‘OFF’ position and plug the AC adaptor into a power
outlet. Then insert the plug at the end of the AC adapter into the 12V DC slot on the front
of the power station. The battery can only be charged if the power switch is in the ‘OFF’
position.
▪ The charging indicator will light up to indicate that the battery is charging; the red indicator
lamp of the 12V DC input will light up.
▪ When the switch is put in the test position (= POWER switch ‘ON’), the indicators display
the condition of the batteries. The red lamp of the 12V DC input will then go off and the
battery will no longer be charged. (See battery condition indicators below.)
7.2 DC charging (with a cigarette lighter adaptor)
▪ Put the ‘POWER’ switch into the ‘OFF’ position and plug the AC adaptor into the cigarette
lighter; make sure that the engine is running. Then insert the plug at the end of the AC
adapter into the 12V DC slot on the front of the power station. The battery can only be
charged if the power switch is in the ‘OFF’ position.
