Troubleshooting guide
Situation
When the water tank is inserted
into the appliance, some water is
spilt.
The water tank has been placed
in the appliance, yet the pilot
light * (“Water tank empty”)
does not go out.
When the iron is switched on for
the first time, the water tank
suddenly goes half-empty even
though you have not yet used
any steam.
The appliance is noisy.
Please note that the electric
pump can be heard from time to
time when it is automatically
refilling the boiler system. This is
quite normal.
The appliance produces steam,
but the sound of the pump is
irregular.
After you have switched the iron
on for the first time, some smoke
comes out of the appliance.
Droplets of water escape from
the soleplate.
Likely cause
Too much water in the water
tank.
You forgot to fill the water.
The water tank has not been
inserted correctly into the
appliance.
This is a normal phenomenon.
The very first time you switch the
iron on, the steam tank is
automatically filled with 0.3 litre
of water.
The appliance vibrates on the
surface on which it is standing.
This is a normal phenomenon.
A microcomputer controls the
pump which automatically
transfers small quantities of
water from the water tank into
the steam tank.
This is a normal phenomenon.
Some parts of the iron have
been greased lightly in the
factory.
The temperature dial (K) has
been set to a temperature which
is too low for steam ironing.
The steam tank is placed on an
unstable and/or uneven surface.
When you start steam ironing
the supply hose is too cold.
Steam condenses in the hose,
causing droplets of water to
escape from the soleplate.
What do to
Do not fill the water tank beyond
the MAX indication and insert it
carefully.
Fill the water tank with water.
Check if the water tank is in the
correct position. Then press the
tank firmly downwards until it is
properly seated (fig. 4).
Switch the iron off, unplug it and
refill the water tank to the
maximum level before you start
steam-ironing.
Move the appliance or place it
on a different surface.
Nothing.
Nothing. After a short while this
phenomenon will cease.
Select the required ironing
temperature as indicated in
these instructions and the table.
Put the steam tank on a stable
and even surface.
Before you continue steam-
ironing, hold the iron over an old
cloth or over the floor and press
the steam activator (I) until the
steam production has
normalised.
