6. Differences between the left-

hand and right-hand channels during

recording (the recording-level

indi-

cators do not light up in the same

way for the left-hand and right-hand

channels).

• The control has not been set in the same position for both

channels (see fig. 6).

• Both channels may have been set at the same level, but the

sound sources of each channel may be at different volumes. Fig.6

shows how both channels can be set differently.

Note:

Remember that with stereo sound the volume of both

channels need not necessarily be the same and that differences

between the left- and right-hand channels can be normal.

7. The cassette deck stops automa-

tically - but against the wishes of the

user! - immediately or shortly after

the commencement of playback or

recording.

• The cassette has been wrongly inserted in the cassette holder.

Check the cassette and put it in the cassette deck as shown in

figure 4.

• The cassette has become stuck or is not running freely. Wind

and rewind the cassette a few times and/or tap the cassette on a

hard surface so that the reels are freed.

8. The cassette deck does nothing

at all; nor do the indicators light up. • The power has not been switched on or the mains voltage has

been interrupted. Check the power on/off switch, the mains lead

and the mains voltage.
