General
Inserting
batteries
Before
starting to use the remote control,
insert
the batteries in the battery holder as
follows.
Open
the battery hoider on the baci<
of the remote control by sliding the lid open.
Insert
the batteries
(4)
as shown in the battery
holder.
To ensure correct operation of the remote
control, we advise the use of Philips All<aline
batteries
(type LOS). These batteries have a
much
longer life than ordinary batteries.
Opening
ttie
set
The rear cover of the set may only be
removed by a service technician. It is
dangerous to switch the set on after it is
opened as there is a
risk
of touching live
parts.
Points
to
remember
If the picture disappears from the screen and
only a bright white line can be seen you
should switch the set off immediately, remove
the plug from the socket and inform
your
dealer.
Cleaning
the set
The set may be cleaned with a duster or
moist
chamois leather. Do not use cleaning
agents
containing alcohol, spirits or
ammonia.
Remedying
faults
A few instructions are given here for
remedying possible reception faults by
yourself.
However, if the set displays a fault which you
cannot rectify with the controls on the panel it
is
advisable to remove the
mains
plug from
the socket and to Inform
your
dealer.
No
picture,
no
sound
Is
the plug firmly In the socket?
Are the controls for brightness, contrast and
volume correctly adjusted? Check by
pressing
the green button on the remote
control unit.
It may be that there is no station broadcasting
on the programme number you have chosen.
Select
another programme number.
Has
the TV been switched on with button ©?
Is
the TV on 'Stand-by'?
Picture,
but no
sound
Have the loudspeakers been switched off with
the switch beside the headphone socket?
Snow
on the screen,
rushing
noise
Is
the
aerial
properly connected?
The
programme
is in
colour,
but the
picture
is blaclc and
white
Is
the colour saturation correctly adjusted?
Check
by pressing the green button.
The
receiver
does not react
properly
to
the
remote
control
The battery is probably
flat.
Replace it.
If the window of the infrared eye on the set or
on the remote control is dirty the TV may not
react
properly. The window can be cleaned
with a damp chamois leather.
Power
failure
If there is a power failure while you are
viewing, the set will be on 'Stand-by' when the
power returns. You can switch the set on
again
by pressing a programme selection
button.
Attention
If the display shows the letter E, then consult
your
dealer.
