5.1 Cooking
Warning! Microwave heating of liquids (such as water) can result in delayed eruptive
boiling. This means that liquid starts boiling without you seeing any movement. Once
removed from the oven, the liquid can start to boil rapidly and spatter out of the cup
with the risk of injury. The effect of eruptive boiling can be eliminated by placing a
plastic / glass spoon in the fl uid before cooking it in the microwave oven.
Warning! Take care with baby food and jars:
Caution! º The contents of feeding bottles and baby food jars must be stirred or
shaken after heating.
º Caution! Carefully check the temperature of the contents before consumption, in
order to avoid burns.
Warning! Utensils can be hot after use in the microwave oven!
Open the door. Place the food on the turntable. Close the 1.
door.
Set the power required using the power adjustment knob. 2.
Depending on the kind of food, you can choose several
power levels (see the table with microwave power levels on
page 11).
Set the cooking time required using the timer/weight 3.
adjustment knob.
The microwave oven switches on. At the end of the cooking
time you will hear a sound signal and the oven light will go
out. The microwave oven switches off.
Attention: The appliance switches on as soon as you turn the timer/weight adjustment
knob from the 0-position.
Tips
Turn the timer/weight adjustment knob slightly past the required cooking time to
start with and then turn it back to the correct cooking time, so as to set it accurately.
Check the food during the cooking time. Press the release knob to open the door.
The microwave oven switches off. The settings and the remaining cooking time are
preserved. When you close the door, the microwave oven switches on again.
Note
See pages 33, 34, 35 and 36 for cooking tips and information about food.
5.2 Defrosting
Food can be defrosted quickly and safely in the microwave
oven. Defrosting in the microwave oven does take longer
than cooking, however. Check the food during the defrosting
process. Turn it at least once and (if possible) remove any food
that has already defrosted.
Set the power adjustment knob to defrost.1.
Set the timer/weight adjustment knob to the correct 2.
weight.
At the end of the defrost time, you will hear a sound signal
and the oven light will go out.
Attention: The appliance switches on as soon as you turn the timer/weight adjustment
knob from the 0-position.
5.3 Cooking tips
5.3.1 Heating and cooking
The microwave oven always heats with the same intensity. The more you put in the
microwave oven, the longer the cooking time.
Wide, fl at dishes become hot more quickly than narrow, tall dishes.
Covering dishes with cling fi lm or a suitable lid prevents spattering, shortens cooking
time and helps maintaining humidity of the dish.
º Caution! Remove the cling fi lm or lid carefully afterwards. The steam that comes
off can be very hot!
If necessary, moisten foods that quickly dehydrate. First soak potatoes and
vegetables in cold water for a moment before placing them in the microwave oven.
This prevents a skin forming on them.
For uniform results, it is best to stir or turn meals once or twice.
