COMMAND CENTER refers to the home page that is installed in this machine.
From COMMAND CENTER you can verify the operating status of this machine and
make settings related to security, network printing, and advanced networking.
• You can verify the operating status of this machine from a computer.
• You can set restrictions on the settings which can be made from the operation panel,
and restrictions on which IP addresses can access this machine.
• You can perform advanced network settings that can not be made on the operation
panel.
• Settings, such as IP address and paper size and type, which are complex when
accomplished from the operation panel can be made using your computer’s
keyboard, making those procedures much more convenient.
Examples in this document are described using the Windows Server XP environment.

1 Using a Web Browser to Manage COMMAND CENTER
If the machine is used on a TCP/IP network and has a valid IP address, it may be
managed from any web browser. The browser allows full configuration of all machine
settings, however, unlike the AdminManager, the browser cannot create NetWare print
objects. If a browser is used for NetWare configuration, then NWAdmin must also be
used to create the NetWare print objects.
Notes
When accessing COMMAND CENTER home page, make sure that:
The TCP/IP protocol is installed on the PC from which you want to access
COMMAND CENTER home page.
The IP address has been configured for the machine.

The embedded web server has been tested with the following web browsers.
† Due to the Macintosh Internet Explorer display problem, some or all of the elements in
the drop down list may appear in English.
†† The above condition also occurs in Opera on the Macintosh because Opera
identifies itself as an Internet Explorer. To avoid this problem, change the Identify As
setting in Opera to something besides Internet Explorer.
Opera 6 on the Macintosh does not support the maxlength input field attribution. If this
error occurs, try using a shorter string in the input field.
Note
COMMAND CENTER may not be displayed properly depending on the browser types
and versions.

1-3 Accessing COMMAND CENTER
To connect to COMMAND CENTER with a web browser:

Run the web browser.

In Address or Location, enter the IP address as the URL, e.g.
http://10.183.51.33/

The home page displays basic information about the machine and COMMAND
CENTER as well as the current status of the machine and the current machine’s
current operation panel display.

Select a category from the navigation bar on the left to view and set values for that
category.
Note
If COMMAND CENTER Admin password has been set, you will be prompted to enter a
user name and password when accessing any of the screens other than the home
page. If no Admin password has been set, access to all other pages is unrestricted. The
administrator password may be defined on the Basic page. If prompted to enter User
Name and Password, any value may be entered for User Name (including leaving it
blank). For Password, enter COMMAND CENTER Admin password.

2 COMMAND CENTER Home Page Screen
This section describes the operations that can be performed in the COMMAND
CENTER home page screen.
2-1 Display Outline
COMMAND CENTER home page divides the corresponding 4 functions onto separate
pages. The following is an outline of each page that can be accessed.
Page Description
Start page This page allows you to verify this machine’s operating status and current
settings.
Basic page This page includes settings that apply to the entire device, such as Device
Defaults, Security, and Basic Networking.
Printer page This page includes settings that apply to the printing function of the device, such
as emulation, default print resolution, print count, tray selection and FRPO.
Advanced page This page includes advanced settings that apply to the entire device and is
comprised primarily of advanced network settings.
Reference number Meaning
1 This displays the top page for the respective function setting.
2 This displays the contents of the page selected in reference number 1.
3 One of the following indications will appear in the upper right portion COMMAND
CENTER window.
• OK
• Error
Warning and Error are displayed when one of the following appears on the operation
panel’s message display.
4 This enables input from your keyboard.
5 This displays a drop down list of available options.
6 Click a radio button to change a setting.
7 This updates the information that was set in the page.
8 This erases any changes that were made in the page and restores the previous settings.

2-2 Example of Using the COMMAND CENTER Screen
This example shows how to change the settings of the Emulation > Network settings
(reference number 4) under Printer > Defaults: System page.

Open the Printer > Defaults: System Page by clicking reference number 1 and
then 2.

Open the drop down list by clicking reference number 5.

Select the appropriate value.

Click the Submit button.
Note
Always perform the following procedure to restart the machine after you have changed
any network settings in order to properly register the content of those settings in the
machine. Refer to Basic > Reset on page 12.

3 Start Page
The following operations are possible from the Start page.
Verifying the machine’s operating status
Changing the language that COMMAND CENTER is displayed in
Verifying various settings (device, printing, network and e-mail)
Access linked home pages
All users will have read privileges to the Start page.
3-1 Start > Home Page
This page allows you to verify the machine’s operating status. This will be the first
screen that appears after COMMAND CENTER has been started up.
Note
To return from any other page to this Home page (the first screen that appears after
COMMAND CENTER has been started up), click on T Start.
Item Description
Select Language This appears if COMMAND CENTER pages support multiple languages.
Supported languages may also be selected through language preference
settings in your browser.
The way of changing COMMAND CENTER display language:
1. Open the drop down list by clicking it.
2. Select the appropriate language.
Note: If you attempt to view
COMMAND CENTER
with a character set
other than the language that is used on the operation panel’s message
display, some characters may be illegible.
Operation Panel This indicates the machine’s operating status as displayed on the
operation panel. To update the display to the most recent status, click on
the Refresh button.
Toner Level This shows the approximate level of remaining toner. When the value is
100 %, the toner container is full. The closer to 0 %, the smaller the
amount of remaining toner.
General Information This allows you to verify the following information: IP Address, Host Name,
sysUpTime, MAC Address, System Firmware, Engine Firmware, Serial
Number, Asset Number, and Printed Page(s).
Media Input This allows you to verify the settings for the paper that is loaded in the
cassette(s) and on the MP Tray, as well as whether there is even any
paper there or not.

3-2 Start > Status Pages
These pages allow you to verify the various settings (printing, network and e-mail) that
were made on the operation panel or using COMMAND CENTER.
3-3 Start > Information Page
These pages allow you to verify the Contact Information settings, the model number of
this machine, and version of COMMAND CENTER.

Start > Status pages:
Network: General
This allows you to verify the settings made under SNMP, TCP/IP,
AppleTalk, and NetBEUI in the Advanced Page.
For more information on SNMP, refer to Advanced > Management /
E-mail: SNMP on page 21. For more information on other items, refer to
Advanced > Protocols: TCP/IP: General on page 15.
Start > Status pages:
Network: IP Filters
This displays the IP address range for each protocol that was set and that
have access permissions as set on the protocol Filters page of the
Advanced Page. If no IP addresses have been designated, then access
permission will be granted to all addresses.

on page 16.
Start > Status pages:
Network: POP3/SMTP
This allows you to verify the e-mail-related settings that have been made
on the POP3 and SMTP pages of the Advanced Page.

Network: Logical Printers
This allows you to verify the settings that have been made on the Logical
Printers page of the Advanced Page.

4 Basic Page
This section includes settings that apply to the entire device, such as Device Defaults,
Security, and basic Networking. Pages in this section are available only to the
Administrator (if the Admin password has been set).
Setting the Administrator password is highly recommended. See the Security section for
other security options. Function specific settings are found under their respective
sections. For example, advanced networking functions, such as e-mail notification, may
be found in the advanced section.
4-1 Basic > Device Defaults
This page allows you to make settings that change the display language of the
operation panel, access privileges for the operation panel, time until the system
switches to sleep mode, and the RAM Disk Size.
Item Description
Operation Panel Language You can select the language of the messages on the message display by
following the procedure given below. The following languages are
available for selection in the drop down list.
English, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Español, Nederlands, and Português.
Lock Operation Panel COMMAND CENTER provides the ability to restrict the type of access that
accomplished from the operation panel. This can be done by selecting one
of the available settings: Lock, Partial Lock, or Unlock.
Lock: Prohibits use of all operation panel keys.
Partial Lock: Prohibits use of the operation panel’s MENU key.
Unlock: There are no restriction on the operation possible from the
operation panel.
Sleep Timer Adjusts the sleep time between 5 to 240 minutes. The default setting is 15
minutes.
(Advanced)
Sleep Mode
Switches Sleep Mode On or Off. The default setting is On.
The procedure for changing the COMMAND CENTER sleep mode is
shown below.
1. Click the Advanced button on the right side of the drop down list.
2. Set Sleep mode to On or Off.
3. Click Submit at the bottom of the page.
Buzzer This switches the buzzer sound On or Off. The default setting is On.
RAM Disk Mode This switches the RAM Disk Mode On or Off. By setting this mode to On,
the memory capacity can be edited in the RAM Disk Size on the bottom.
When a hard disk is installed, no RAM disk can be used.
RAM Disk Size This is used to specify the RAM Disk size. Click on the drop down list to
select the size. The maximum RAM disk capacity varies depending on
your machine model and the amount of memory installed.

4-2 Basic > Security
The Administrator (Admin) account is the master access account. It controls access to
the printer and networking configuration from all setup and management utilities
including the HTML web pages.
Notes
The factory default for COMMAND CENTER is no password. Setting the Admin
password is highly recommended to prevent unauthorized changes to the printer and
networking configuration.
The password can be to up to 30 characters long.
We recommend that you record your password so that you do not forget it. If the
Admin password is forgotten, a reset to factory defaults with a jumper setting is
required to eliminate the password.
To Change the Password:

Enter the Old Password.

Enter the password you want to set in
New Password.

Enter the same password in Confirm New Password.

Click Submit at the button of the page.
4-3 Basic > Network
This page allows you to make the settings that are required for network printing and
sending e-mail. For more information, refer to Advanced > Protocols: TCP/IP:
General on page 15.
Note
Always restart this machine after you have completed these settings in order to properly
register the content of those settings in the machine. Refer to Basic > Reset on
page 12.
Item Description
Host Name Specifies a name for the printing system network component. This name is
also used as the NetBEUI Printer Name and the SNMP sysName object.
IP Address Assigns the Internet Protocol address on the printing system network
component. Format of the IP Address is four-byte (32-bit) numbers
separated by dots, e.g.
192.168.110.171.
Subnet Mask Specifies the subnet mask configured on the printing system network
component. If the printing system does not automatically assign a usable
default value and the first number in the IP address above is from 192 to
254, then use 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask.
Default Gateway The IP address of the gateway router for the local network.
DHCP/BOOTP Identifies how the machine obtains its IP configuration:
DHCP/BOOTP: automatic configuration via a BOOTP server or a DHCP
server.
Rendezvous This product supports Apple Rendezvous. Printers can be added from the
Printer Center in Mac OS X. To allow printing, the printer should support
KPDL. This setting enables (On) or disables (Off) Rendezvous.
Rendezvous Name Specifies the name to use for Rendezvous.

4-4 Basic > Time
This machine can obtain the time from an SNTP server or NetWare server. The time
needs to be obtained when sending reports by e-mail.
Procedure for obtaining the time:

Click the Local Time Zone drop down list to select the time (Hour) for your region.

Enter the time (Minutes) for your region in the cell at the right of the drop down list.

Select the timer server. If an SNTP server is selected, enter the IP address of the
server.
4
Click the Submit button.
4-5 Basic > Reset
This page allows you to restart the machine in order to make all network settings in the
machine valid. It is also possible to select to have all network settings returned to their
factory default values.
Item Description
Current Local Time This displays the time obtained from the server.
Local Time Zone Sets a time difference. Click on the drop down list and select your region.
Time Protocol Select the server for obtaining the time. The available time servers are
shown below.
None: The time is not obtained from the server.
Netware: NetWare obtains time from the connected file server.
SNTP Server: Time is obtained from SNTP on the network. Sets SNTP
server name or IP address.
Item Description
Restart Network interface When clicking the Restart button, the machine restarts. The setting
becomes effective when you restart the machine.
Always restart the machine after you have changed any settings for the
Basic > Network on page 11 and Advanced Page on page 15.
Set All Network Settings to
Factory Default
When clicking the Reset button, the machine returns to the setting in the
time of shipment from factory.

Printer Page
This section includes settings that apply to the printing function of the device, such as
default print resolution or copy count. Pages in this section are available only to the
Administrator (if the Admin password has been set).
Default printer settings will be overridden by the printer driver settings. Settings that
affect the entire device, such as locking the operation panel, are found under Basic
page.
5-1 Printer > Defaults: System
The table below provides a summary of the items displayed on the Printer System
page.
5-2 Printer > Defaults: Media Input
The Media Input page provides you to configure input trays (cassettes) by type and
size. You can load different paper in the input trays and then command to print on paper
by specifying type or size on the printer driver software.
The instructions below are to configure the trays from the Media Input page. You can
also configure the input trays at the device’s operation panel. See the
printer’s
Operation Guide.
To configure an input tray, click the Size drop down list and select the size which
matches the paper you will use in the input tray. Click the Type drop down list and select
the type which matches the paper. To make the input tray the default input tray, click the
appropriate radio button under Default. Click Submit to take settings in effect.
Item Description
Emulation Sets emulation for each interface.
Copies Sets the number of copies to print.
Page Orientation Switches portrait or landscape page orientation.
KIR Mode Switches KIR (Kyocera Image Refinement) smoothing On or Off.
EcoPrint Switches EcoPrint On or Off to reduce the amount of toner to save the
printing costs. The default setting is On.
Resolution Changes the printing resolution from 300 dpi, 600 dpi, Fast 1200, and Fine
1200. The default setting is Fast 1200.
Item Description
Default Determines the default tray to feed paper from.
Tray Displays the trays including those provided by option.
Size Sets the size for the input tray. For the MP tray, a full list of available sizes
is displayed. For the paper cassette, the printer automatically displays the
detected paper size. Refer to the Printers Operation Guide for the
available paper sizes.
Type Sets the type for the input tray. For a full list of available types, refer to the
Printers Operation Guide.

5-3 Printer > Defaults: Document Output
The following procedure allows you to select whether printouts will be received by the
top tray (face-down) or to the rear tray (face-up). If an option sorter is installed, it can
also be selected using the manner described below.
5-4 Printer > Defaults: FRPO Values: Interface Independent/Interface
Dependent
The print system maintains a number of parameters in non-volatile (flash) memory.
These parameters control the initial state of the environment at power-up, including the
initial emulation mode, page orientation, character set, buffer allocations in memory,
interface parameters, and other options.
The parameters may be changed permanently with the FRPO (Firmware RePrOgram)
command.Some FRPO parameters affect only the current interface
(interface-dependent) and some affect all interfaces at once
(non-interface-dependent).If the print system is shared with other users, remember that
any changes to any non-interface-dependent parameters may interfere with the print
jobs of other users.
The FRPO parameter settings that were made for the current printer are listed on this
page. The parameter settings can be changed by entering a value for the desired
parameter. For details, refer to the Technical Reference Guide included on the
CD-ROM.
5-5 Printer > Send Data: Printable Data
Printable files in the PC can be selected for printing. The printable files are shown in the
table below. Entered text can also be printed.
Item Description
Defaut Determines the default output tray.
Finisher Displays the trays including those provided by option.
Output Orientation This displays how the printouts are discharged; face-down or face-up.
Item Description
File Click the Browse button at the right side to select the file. Files with the
extensions *.ps, *.prn, *.pdf, and *.txt can be printed. For *.ps and *.pdf
files, set the emulation to KPDL or KPDL(AUTO).
Text Enter the text that you want to print directly into the input box. Text up to
255 characters can be printed.

6 Advanced Page
This section includes advanced settings that apply to the entire device and is comprised
primarily of advanced network settings. Pages in this section are available only to the
Administrator (if the Admin password has been set).
Note
Always restart this machine after you have completed these settings in order to properly
register the content of those settings in the machine. Refer to Basic > Reset Page on
page 12.
6-1 Advanced > Protocols: TCP/IP: General
The table below provides a summary of the items displayed on the Printer System
page.
Item Description
Host Name Specifies a name for the printing system network component. This name is
also used as the NetBEUI Printer Name and the SNMP sysName object.
IP Address Assigns the Internet Protocol address on the printing system network
component. Format of the IP Address is four-byte (32-bit) numbers
separated by dots, e.g.
192.168.110.171.
Subnet Mask Specifies the subnet mask configured on the printing system network
component. If the printing system does not automatically assign a usable
default value and the first number in the IP address above is from 192 to
254, then use 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask.
Default Gateway The IP address of the gateway router for the local network.
DHCP/BOOTP, RARP, ARP/PING Identifies how the machine obtains its IP configuration:
DHCP/BOOTP: automatic configuration via a BOOTP server or a DHCP
server.
RARP: automatic configuration via the Reverse Address Resolution
Protocol.
ARP/PING: automatic configuration via the Address Resolution Protocol or
PING.
DNS Server
(Primary, Secondary)
The IP address of the primary and secondary Domain Name System
(DNS) servers.
Rendezvous This product supports Apple Rendezvous. Printers can be added from the
Printer Center in Mac OS X. To allow printing, the printer should support
KPDL. This setting enables (On) or disables (Off) Rendezvous.
Rendezvous Name Specifies the name to use for Rendezvous.
Domain Name The Domain Name System (DNS) name of the domain which the printing
system belongs, such as
kyoceramita.com.
It should not include host
printer name.
WINS Server
(Primary, Secondary)
The IP address of the primary and secondary Windows Internet Name
Service (WINS) servers.
Scope ID This section determines the scope of IP addresses that a Windows server
can grant or lease to any requesting network component.
A DHCP server processes the printing system’s discovery broadcasts and
returns an IP address to it. The DHCP server may be set up to grant an IP
address for a limited time (a temporary lease) or for an unlimited time (an
unlimited lease), or it may be configured with a permanent address
reservation for the printing system.
FTP Status Check This selects whether to check the status of the FTP connection (On) or not
(Off).

6-2 Advanced > Protocols: TCP/IP: IP Filters
IP filters specify a host or network of hosts that are allowed to access the printing
system. An entry should be a network number or host IP address. Up to 16 access list
entries are allowed.
When there are no entries, access is allowed to all hosts. To allow all hosts on network
192, enter 192.0.0.0 and 255.0.0.0. To allow only a host 192.168.1.2, enter 192.168.1.2.
The default mask 255.255.255.255 is assumed and subnet mask can be left blank.
Insert a check mark for the protocol that you want to select.
6-3 Advanced > Protocols: TCP/IP: Logical Printers
Logical Printers allows you to use this machine as 4 virtual printers, each with
customized features such as ASCII to Postscript conversion, and the addition and/or
replacement of character strings (commands) at the beginning or end of job data.
Each logical printer can be used with either FTP, LPR, or IPP protocols. All printout to a
non-existent port will be accomplished to Logical Printer1.

For details on available commands, refer to the instruction manual for your workstation.
Item Description
TCP/IP Port Number Specifies the IP address for the logical printer as well as the TCP raw port
number (9100, etc.). Conversion is applied to data that is input to the
specified raw port in accordance with the designated logical printer. This

6-4 Advanced > Protocols: Netware: General
This machine supports both NDS and bindery printing in either printer server mode or
remote printer mode.
Netware setup requires installation of the following client software and logon with
Administrator Privileges. If you are unsure, please contact your network administrator.
Novell Client: Creation of the NetWare print objects with the AdminManager NetWare
Setup Wizard requires the NetWare Client from Novell. For NetWare printing, clients
may use the NetWare Client from either Novell or Microsoft.
Admin Privileges: Network operations concerning creating queues etc. require 'admin'
or 'supervisor' privileges (or equivalent). Certain portions of AdminManager may be
inoperable if you attempt those operations without sufficient privileges.
6-5 Advanced > Protocols: Netware: Bindary Services
This allows registration of the file server for Print Server mode for making the
connection and the print server for Remote Printer mode. If no registration is made, a
network search is made at startup, and connection is automatically made to the first
eight servers that are found.
Item Description
NetWare Protocol Select whether to enable (On) or disable (Off) the NetWare protocol.
Bindery Mode Select whether to enable (On) or disable (Off) bindery mode.
Frame Type The available settings are the 802.2, SNAP, ETHERNET-II, and 802.3
frame types, and Auto for automatic identification.
NDS Tree Specify the name of the NDS tree to connect to.
NDS Context Specify the NDS context to connect to in Print Server mode.
Print Server Mode Enables (On) or disables (Off) the Print Server mode.
Print Server Name This displays the Print Server name.
Queue Polling Interval This sets the polling interval.
Banner Page Requests Specifies if print banner page when printing by LPR, FTP, TCP/IP
RawPort.
Password (Optional) This sets the password. Login to NetWare will be successful only if the
password set here matches the Print Server password set in the NetWare
utilities.
Remote Printer Mode Enables (On) or disables (Off) the Print Server mode.
Remote Printer Name This displays the Print Server name.
Job Timeout Sets the timeout value for the end of the job when operating in Remote
Printer mode in the range from 4 seconds to 255 seconds.

Print Server Mode This enables registration for up to eight file servers. If there are nine or
more file servers, register the file server names that have priority in
connection.
If no registration is made, a connection is automatically made to up to
eight servers at startup. The print server names in the file servers must
match the print servers names in this system.
Remote Printer Mode This enables registration for up to eight print servers. If there are nine or
more print servers, register the print server names that have priority in
connection.
If no registration is made, a connection is automatically made to up to
eight servers at startup. The printer names (printer port names) in the print
servers must match with the remote printer names (printer port names) in

Even if a registered file server is started after this system is running, polling is
performed from the system at regular intervals for automatically connecting to the
server.
6-6 Advanced > Protocols: AppleTalk
The printing system network component supports MacOS of various versions (See
Specifications.) and is compatible with LaserWriter driver version 8.x.
To set up the Ethernet interface to communicate via AppleTalk, enables AppleTalk
protocol operation on the printing system.
6-7 Advanced > Protocols: NetBEUI
Peer-to-peer printing is available using NetBEUI protocol. With this method, the printing
system is conveniently located in Windows Network Neighborhood.
6-8 Advanced > Management / E-mail: SMTP
The printing system network component offers an e-mail function. SMTP (Simple Mail
Transfer Protocol) is an embedded protocol to support this function. To use e-mail
function, the printing system needs connection to an e-mail server via POP3 protocol.
Item Description
AppleTalk Enables (On) or disable (Off) AppleTalk protocol.
Printer Name Specifies the name of the printing system in the AppleTalk network.
Zone Name Specifies the name of the AppleTalk zone (network). An asterisk (*) means
the default zone.

NetBEUI Protocol Enables (On) or disables (Off) NetBEUI protocol.
Browse Master With this option set to On, the printing system becomes the browse master
and create a workgroup in Windows Network Neighborhood. With this
option set to Off, the printing system can only join an existing workgroup.
Note that with Browse Master disabled, the printing system will only
appear on the network if at least one machine in its workgroup is turned on
and can perform the browse master function.
Printer Name Printer Name correlates with Host Name in the TCP/IP General tab
(Advanced> Protocols: TCP/IP: General). If you want to change the
NetBEUI printer name, change the TCP/IP Host Name.
Workgroup Workgroup represents the workgroup which will appear in Entire Network
in Windows Network Neighborhood. The default workgroup name is
KM-NetPrinters
.

must be enabled.
SMTP Port Number Set the SMTP Port Number or use the SMTP default port 25. Click the Test

than the IP address, a DNS server address must also be configured. The
DNS server address may be entered on the TCP/IP General tab
(Advanced> Protocols: TCP/IP: General).
Authentication Protocol Enables (On) or disables (Off) the SMTP authentication protocol.

When Low Toner or other error occurs, the status information can be sent to a
designated e-mail address at a designated time. Make this setting after making the
SMTP setting.
Authenticate as When POP3 account 1 to 3 is selected, this uses the selected POP3
account to perform SMTP authentication. When Entered below is
selected, the values set for the Login Account Name and Login Password
are used.
Login Account Name When Entered below is selected for Authenticate as, the account name
that was set here is used for SMTP authentication. Up to 64 characters
can be entered.
Login Password When Entered below is selected for Authenticate as, the password that
was set here is used for authentication.
Sender Address Set the address of the person responsible for the printing system, such as
the printer administrator, so that a reply or non-delivery report will go to a
person rather than to the printer.
Subject This allows setting of the Subject of the report e-mail sent from the system.
Conversion character strings, such as %printer (model name) and %serial
(serial number) can be entered.
Signature Enter the signature. The signature is free form text that will appear at the
end of the e-mail body. It is often used for further identification of the
printing system.

Recipient 1 (to 3) Address For Recipient 1 (to 3) Address, enter the e-mail address of the intended
recipient. Entering a distribution list address is a simple way to send to
multiple recipients.
Event Report Items Under Event Report Items, check the box for each type of error condition
to be reported to the recipient.
Event Report Interval Enter the E-mail Interval. An e-mail will be sent at the end of the interval
only when at least one of the selected error conditions has occurred during
the interval. The interval can be set from 1 minute to 1000 minutes. An
event will be reported only when at least one of the selected events occurs
during the interval.
Scheduled Report Items Select one or more items from Printer Status, Network Status, and
Counter Status.
Scheduled Report Interval Sets the time or interval for sending the status information. Events will be
reported at the specified interval.
None: No report is sent.
Monthly: Sends on the specified day of specified month.
Weekly: Sends on the specified day of every week.
Daily: Sends at the specified time of every day.
Hourly: Sends at the specified interval every hour.
Note: If a specified day does not exist in the month, such as the 31st, the
last day of the month is used as the specified day.
Run once now Clicking the Sent button sends the event reports and scheduled reports to
the e-mail addresses that were set in Recipient Address regardless of the
Report Interval setting.

This section shows how to make the settings for POP3 Protocol. POP3 is used to
receive remote print jobs via e-mail.
6-11 Advanced > Management / E-mail: POP3: Account
This makes the settings for receiving and printing e-mail. Up to three e-mail accounts
can be registered. Received e-mails can be filtered by size, title, To, CC or From.
Attached files can be received and printed.
Item Description
POP3 Protocol Enables (On) or disables (Off) the POP3 protocol.
Check Interval Checks e-mails in POP3 server at specific interval. Specify the interval in
the range from 3 minutes to 60 minutes. The default is 15 minutes.
Run once now Click the Run once now button to immediately receive e-mail from the
POP3 server.
Item Description
Account 1 (to 3) For Recipient 1 (to 3), Address enter the e-mail address of the intended
recipient. Entering a distribution list address is a simple way to send to

E-mail Address Under E-mail Address, check the box for each type of error condition to be

or IP address for the host name. You need to set the DNS server when you

Test Buttton Click the Test button to check if the e-mail accounts settings are correct.
POP3 Port Number Specifies the POP3 port number. Use the default value (110).
The port number is usually a value in the range from 1 to 65535.
Login Account Name Set the login name of the e-mail account (user name).
(max. 64 characters)
Login Password Sets the password for connecting to the POP3 server.
(max. 31 characters)
Use APOP Enables (On) or disables (Off) APOP. This setting must be enabled (On) to
connect to a mail server supporting APOP.
Delete e-mail after retrieval Selects whether to delete the e-mail received/printed from server or not.
E-mail Size Limit Except the e-mail over the specified size to be received. Even if Delete
e-mail after retrieval is Enable (On), it will not be deleted. When 0 is
specified, there is no limitation.
Filter Setting You can specify character strings for filtering e-mail (max. 255 characters).
The filtering methods are shown below.
• Use the s: string to filter the Subject condition.
• Use the T: string to filter the (To) condition.
• Use the C: string to filter the (Cc) condition.
• Use the F: string to filter the (From) condition.
• To filter using two or more conditions, insert | between each string.
• To filter using all conditions, insert & between each string.
For example, to print only the e-mails with a subject of Service or
Technical, specify: S:Service|S:Technical
Cover Page Enables (On) or disables (Off) the cover page. Specifies if the e-mail
header and body are printed when printing the e-mail.
• When set to On, the e-mail is printed with a cover page attached. If the
message has a text, it is printed as a cover page.
• When set to Off, only the attached file is printed. Nothing is printed if
there is no attached file.

The SNMP protocol is used for providing and transferring management information
within the network environment. Should an error occur such as

6-13 Advanced > Management / E-mail: Maintenance
The machine can obtain maintenance information at a specified time. The report for the
total printed page is sent by e-mail.
Item Description
Read Community The read community can be used like a password. The default read
community name is
public
. When a management application sends an
SNMP request to read a value, it must include the correct read community
name or the request will be rejected by the printing system.
Write Community Similar in function to the read community, but used in SNMP requests to
write (change) a value.
sysContact The MIB-II sysContact object, usually the email address of the network
administrator.
sysName The MIB-II sysName object, usually the host or domain name of the printing
system.
sysLocation The MIB-II sysLocation object, usually the location information of the
printing system.
Authentication Traps Check On to enable or Off to disable the MIB-II EnableAuthenTrap object. If
enabled, an SNMP trap is generated when an attempt to read or write is
made using an incorrect community name. The trap is sent to the configured
trap address.
Trap Community The SNMP trap community name to be used when the printing system
generates a trap.
Trap IP Address The IP address which will receive the trap.
Trap IPX Address The IPX address which will receive the trap.
Selected Errors Select the events which will cause a trap to be generated including Low
Toner, Add Toner, Paper Jam, Add Paper, Cover Open, and All Other Errors.
Item Description
Equipment ID This sets the ID number of the system. Any number can be set. (max. 15
characters)
Recipient Address Configures where the Maintenance Notification is sent.
Note: Each address is delimited by a ;(semicolon), and up to 200
characters can be registered.
Subject Configures the Subject in the Maintenance Notification e-mail. If any of the
strings starting with a % listed in the below is found in the Subject box, that
string will be converted and output.
• %printer = Model
• %serial = Serial Number
• %etheraddr = MAC Address
• %equipid = Equipment ID
