Read the instructions carefully and keep them for future reference. Check that your domestic electricity
supply matches that of the appliance. Plug this appliance only into an earthed outlet. Remove any stickers
and wash all parts before use (except the electric part) in warm soapy water and rinse well.
The NOVA WOK PRO is ideal for stir-frying, steaming, braising and stewing. Stir-frying and steaming are
particularly healthy and nourishing cooking methods. This family-sized wok is made of tough aluminium,
so that it heats up rapidly and evenly. The non-stick coating makes the wok easy to clean; it is even
dishwasher-proof. It has a lid with a plastic, heat resistant handle. The control light and accurately adju-
stable thermostat make the NOVA WOK PRO easy to use. You will get years of pleasure from it.
We advise you to wash the pan in soapy water before using it for the first time. However, do not submerge
the power cord and dry the pan's electrical connection before plugging it in. Spread a thin layer of cooking
oil over the non-stick coating.
The parts of this set have a PTFE non-stick coating. When this coating is heated, small quantities of
gasses can be given off. These are harmless to humans. However, it has been proven that the nervous
system of birds is very sensitive to them. Therefore, do not use this appliance in the vicinity of birds
(tropical birds, such as parrots).
TIPS FOR USE
Use the pan on a steady table or some other firm surface. Do not put the appliance on a (hot) cooking
ring. Push the large plug into the pan and then the small plug into the electrical outlet.
The pan takes about 2 minutes to warm up.You can use this time to gather your ingredients together.
As soon as the wok has reached the required temperature the control light goes out.
The cooking time depends on the nature and thickness of your ingredients.You can of course experiment
with the cooking time and temperature to get the best results.
It is best not to use metal tools. They could damage the non-stick coating.
The pan can be used with or without the lid.
During use the temperature light will switch on and off to show that the thermostat is controlling the
temperature. This is normal.
Pull the plug out of the socket when you have finished using the pan. Remember that the large
temperature sensor on the plug (the metal pin in the centre) will be very hot. Do not touch it.
COOKING TIPS
Small pieces of meat, fish, etc., cut to about the same size, cook faster and are more tender than
larger pieces.
Make sure that meat, fish or vegetables are as free of moisture as possible before adding hot oil. This
will avoid splattering.
Only turn meat and fish once, then it will not dry out so fast. For the same reason it is better not to
pierce the meat with a fork, but to use a spatula.
Only use a little oil or cooking fat for frying and roasting. The pan is not suitable for deep frying etc.
The cooking times in the enclosed recipes are only guide-lines. The times are affected by the quality
of the meat, the freshness of the vegetables, etc., and differ per dish.
Fish and shellfish are very suitable for steaming. Top up the water in the wok regularly.
CLEANING
FIRST REMOVE THE PLUGS FROM THE WALL OUTLETS AND THE WOK
Clean the pan every time you use it. This avoids food particles burning on. Let the NOVA WOK PRO cool
down first. Never pour water into the hot pan. This would damage the appliance and the hot water might
spit. Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaning liquids or scouring pads.
Food particles that are difficult to remove can first be soaked loose in cooking oil (leave to soak for 5
minutes). Or cover the bottom of the pan with water and bring it to the boil; this will loosen stubborn scraps.
The pan and lid can be cleaned in hot suds. Always keep the electrical cord and the temperature control
dry! The pan is dishwasher-proof.
