IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force)

IETF is verantwoordelijk voor de meeste Internet-standaardisering. De Nokia

9210 Communicator maakt veel gebruik van IETF-specificaties. Bij de

terugbelinstellingen is een van de ingestelde waarden gespecificeerd door

de IETF, terwijl de overige methoden door Microsoft zijn gespecificeerd.

IMAP4 (Internet Mail Access Protocol, versie 4)

Een protocol voor het gebruik van uw remote mailbox.

Internet-toegangspunt (IAP)

Het inbelpunt waar uw communicator verbinding met de WAP-dienst maakt

door middel van een dataoproep. Het toegangspunt voor de WWW-dienst

kan bijvoorbeeld worden verschaft door een Internet-aanbieder (ISP,

Internet Service Provider) of uw eigen bedrijf.

IP-adres van de gateway

Het adres van een WAP-gateway. (Zie: WAP-gateway.)

ISDN-verbinding

Met ISDN-verbindingen worden de dataoproepen tussen de communicator

en uw IAP tot stand gebracht. ISDN-verbindingen zijn geheel digitaal.

Daarom heeft ISDN hogere instel- en datasnelheden dan

analoogverbindingen. U kunt ISDN alleen gebruiken wanneer zowel uw

Internet-aanbieder als uw netwerkexploitant ISDN ondersteunen.

Een object-georiënteerde, algemeen bruikbare programmeertaal die door

Sun Microsystems is ontwikkeld en oorspronkelijk voor handheld-apparaten

was bedoeld.
