3 Operation and maintenance
CAUTION
Danger due to electric shock or moving parts
Disconnect the power supply before carrying out any maintenance
work.
Have any maintenance steps that are not listed here carried out by an
approved contractor.
You can find information on operating the indoor units in the
corresponding operating instructions.
3.1 Selecting the operation mode
If you are operating two units at the same time, both must be in the same
operating mode. Heating mode always has priority. If you set one unit to
heating mode, all other units can only be used in heating mode.
Example: if the first unit to be started is running in cooling or Fan Mode,
all other appliances can be switched on in any operating mode apart
from heating mode. As soon as one unit switches to heating mode, all
other appliances switch off and indicate a fault: "−−" appears in the
display or the Auto and ON indicator flash, the defrost indicator is off and
the timer indicator is permanently on.
3.2 Cleaning the unit and the remote control
NOTICE
Damage to unit due to incorrect cleaning!
Do not directly splash or pour water onto them.
Do not use hot water, thinner, abrasive powders or strong solvents.
Clean indoor unit and remote control by wiping them with a soft cloth.
Only have the outdoor unit cleaned by an approved contractor.
3.3 Method for cleaning the air filter
NOTICE
The air filter may deform in direct sunlight.
Do not expose the air filter to direct sunlight.
Clean the air filter every 2 weeks, and also before and after
decommissioning for longer periods.
Cleaning the air filter of the wall-mounted indoor units

Take out the small air filters, if installed.
Clean the small air filters with a handheld vacuum cleaner.
Wash the large air filter with warm water and a mild cleaning agent
and dry in the shade.
Reattach the small air filter and the large air filter.
Cleaning the air filter of the built-in ducted indoor units
Switch off the indoor unit.
Pull out the air filter ( Fig. 6).
Wash the air filter with hot water and a mild cleaning agent and dry in
the shade.
Cleaning the air filter of the cassette indoor units
Open the air inlet grille ( Fig. 7).
Remove the air filter.
Wash out the air filter with hot water and a mild cleaning agent and
dry in the shade.
3.4 When re-commissioning after decommissioning for
an extended period
3.4.1 Maintenance before decommissioning for an extended
period:
Clean the air filter of the indoor and outdoor unit.
Leave the fan of the indoor unit running for approx. 24 h in Fan Mode
to allow the inside of the appliance to dry.
Switch off the indoor unit and disconnect it from the power supply.
Protect the unit from dust.
Check the outdoor unit at regular intervals. Contact customer service
or an authorised service engineer if a fault occurs.
3.4.2 Maintenance after a long period of non -use
Wipe the air inlet grille with a clean dry cloth so the indoor unit does
not blow out dust.
Make sure that the air inlet and air outlet are unobstructed and have
not been inadvertently adjusted.
Check all cables and connect the power supply.
If required, make sure that the air filter is installed.
