Setting the Centre of Gravity
Like any other aircraft, the DogFighter must be balanced at a particular point in order to achieve stable flying
characteristics. Assemble your model ready to fly, and install the flight battery.
The Centre of Gravity (CG) should be at a position 42 mm aft of the wing root leading edge, i.e. at the
fuselage sides. Fig. 6
Mark this point on both sides of the fuselage. You will find it easier to balance this model inverted: support it
at this position on two fingertips, and it should balance level. If not, you can move the flight battery forward
or aft to correct the balance point. Once the exact position is found, mark the location of the flight pack
inside the model to ensure that it is always replaced in the same position.
Flying the RAZZOR
This model is suitable for advanced pilots only!
For the first flight we recommend the following control surface travels:
Ailerons (down / up): - 4 / + 6 mm (Expo: 40%)
Elevator (down / up): - 6 / + 6 mm (Expo: 40%)
Rudder: 25 mm
1. Launching
We recommend hand-launching this model: apply full throttle, and launch the aeroplane directly into wind with
the wings level and the nose pointing up at about 20 – 30°.
2. Flying
For its size and layout the Razzor has extremely good-natured flying characteristics, and it is capable of
smooth, accurate aerobatics at moderate airspeed and faster. Always fly in good, clear conditions, as the
model’s small size can make orientation difficult.
3. Landing
To avoid premature damage to the undercarriage and the whole airframe we recommend that you carry out the
landing approach with the motor running at low speed, then “flare” at the last moment and allow it to “fall” into
tall grass. If your flying field is mown grass, we recommend that you remove the undercarriage and land the
model on its belly.
The aeroplane will only land cleanly on its wheels on an asphalt surface, or on extremely closely mown grass
where the ground is hard and level.
