FRONT FORK: OIL CHANGE - OVERHAUL VORDERRADGABEL: ÖLWECHSEL - REVISION
4 FRONT FORK OIL CHANGE
NOTE
The operations described below apply to both
kinds of forks. Any differences are highlighted
in the text together with the relevant kind of fork:
Adjustable
Non adjustable.
IMPORTANT
The procedures described below apply to both
the fork legs.
The fork oil must be changed approximately every 20000
km (12000 miles) or at least once a year.
The quantity of oil required for each fork leg is:
Adjustable fork: 635 cc
Non adjustable fork: 565 cc
N.B.
During oil draining and refilling procedures, the
fork leg and its internal parts must be clamped
in a vice; take care not to damage them by ex-
cessive tightening; always use aluminium jaw
facings.
DRAINING:
To drain the oil follow the procedures described below:
Remove the two fork legs as described in chap. 2 sec-
tion 8;
Clamp the removed leg in a vice with aluminium jaw
facings in order to avoid damaging it;
Use a hex wrench, ideally a ring type to ensure the
best possible grip, and unscrew top crown A. Be-
ware of the force exerted by the spring on the crown
once it is unscrewed.
Take care not to damage the O-ring during removal.
Push the stanchion into the slider.
Hold the top crown steady and release the lock nut B
using a hex wrench. Fully unscrew and remove the
top crown A from the top end of the damper rod.
Slacken the lock nut as far as possible, but do not
remove it from the damper rod thread.
4 ÖLWECHSEL IN DER VORDER-
RADGABEL
Hinweis
Nachstehende Arbeiten sind für beide Gabel-
typen gültig. Sollten strukturelle Unterschiede
vorliegen, werden diese je Gabeltyp angegeben:
regulierbar
nicht regulierbar
HINWEIS
Nachstehende Arbeiten sind für beide Gabel-
holme gültig.
Ungefähr alle 20.000 km oder mindestens einmal im Jahr
muss das Gabelöl gewechselt werden.
Erforderliche Ölmenge pro Holm:
regulierbare Gabel: 635 cm

nicht regulierbare Gabel: 565 cm

HINWEIS
Während dem Ablass und dem Einfüllen des Öls
müssen der Holm und seine Innenkomponenten
in einem Schraubstock eingespannt werden.
Dabei ist besonders darauf zu achten, dass man
sie nicht zu stark einspannt und dadurch be-
schädigt. Immer Spannbackenauflagen in Alu-
minium verwenden.
ABLASS:
Für den Ölablass wie nachstehend beschrieben verfah-
ren:
Die beiden Gabelholme den Beschreibungen im Kap.
2, Abschn. 8 gemäß ausbauen.
Den entfernten Gabelholm in einem Schraubstock ein-
spannen, der zur Vermeidung von Beschädigungen
mit Aluminiumspannbacken ausgestattet ist.
Mit einem Sechskantschlüssel, der für ein besseres
Fassen möglichst geschlossen sein sollte, den obe-
ren Verschluss A lösen. Den Schubdruck berücksich-
tigen mit dem die Feder auf den gelösten Verschluss
einwirkt.
Beim Herausziehen den O-Ring nicht beschädigen.
Das Tauchrohr in das Gleitrohr einschieben.
Den Verschluss festhalten und dabei die Kontermut-
ter B mit einem Sechskantschlüssel lösen. Den
Verschluss A vollständig lösen und am Scheitel des
Dämpferstabs abnehmen. Die Kontermutter so weit
wie möglich lockern, ohne sie dabei vom Gewindes-
tab des Dämpfers zu nehmen.
