In Germany, for wood dust, vacuum extrac-
tion devices are required which have been
tested for suitability in accordance with the
regulations represented by TRGS 553 . For
other materials, the commercial operator
must clarify the specific requirements
imposed on the extraction device with the
appropriate professional association.
For wood chip extraction, a ø 100 mm dia.
suction hose can be fitted to the vacuum
nozzle of the machine.
11 Sawing wood and
similar materials
11.1 Operator´s working position

Correct working position:
In front of the machine standing in the
direction of cutting (A).
Workpiece handling:
Hands placed flat on the workpiece outside
the cutting area, with fingers closed, and
thumbs tight to fingers.
Push the workpiece steadily forward,
complete the cut as a single movement and
do not draw the workpiece back.
Support long and wide workpieces with a
roller block. The helper (B) stands behind
the machine in the direction of the cut.
Operating hints
Work only with a saw blade
with sharp and properly set
teeth.
When processing long or wide
workpieces, position a roller
block behind the machine to
prevent the workpiece from
falling. In the cutting area,
make sure you also use a
pusher and feeder device.
11.2 Longitudinal cuts 11.5 Cross cuts, on edge
Push the workpiece forward steadily,
following the line marked.
At the end of the cut, move the workpiece
forward in the direction indicated by the
arrows - do not draw back.

Feed the workpiece towards the saw blade
in the direction of the line drawn, and cut as
required by turning to follow the line drawn.
Do not draw the workpiece back, as this
could cause the bandsaw to run off its
pulleys.
11.4 Cross cuts, flat
Adjust the saw blade guard with the upper
guide unit according to the workpiece
dimensions.
Caution:
Never feed into the blade in such a way that
the cut starts at the upper edge of the
workpiece.
11.6 Cutting to a marked line
Position your hands on the workpiece and
push forward so that a balanced pressure is
exerted on the workpiece and there is no
pressure tending to close the cut around the
saw blade (follow direction indicated by
arrows).
Mark the line of the cut.
Guide the workpiece, pushing in the direc-
tion of the cut and guiding along the line by
exerting the appropriate lateral pressure.
Use a set square to prevent the workpiece
from falling over and for safe lateral guidan-
ce. Always place the set square in front of
the saw blade (behind the saw blade there
is the risk that it might close the cut around
the blade). With long workpieces, use a
roller block.
11.7 Cutting at the fence
Guide the workpiece along the fence.
Always secure the upper guide as close as
possible to the workpiece for the best
possible degree of control. The more slowly
the workpiece is pushed forward, the less
lateral deviation there will be in the travel of
the bandsaw blade.
When cutting narrow work-
pieces, use a suitable
feeding device and pusher
to ensure safe operation.
