The safe speed on awet, snow covered or icy

road is alwayslower than on dry road surfa-

ces.

You should pay special attention to road con-

ditions when temperatures are around freez-

ing point.

Mercedes-Benz recommends aminimum

tread depth of ã in (4 mm)onall four winter

tires. Observe the legally required minimum

tire tread depth (Y page 251). Winter tires can

reduce the braking distanceonsnow-covered

surfaces in comparison with summer tires.

The braking distanceisstill much further than

on surfaces that are not icy or covered with

snow. Take appropriate care when driving.

Temperature

WARNING

The temperature grade for this tire is estab-

lished for atire that is properly inflated and

not overloaded. Excessive speed, underinfla-

tion, or excessiveloading, either separately or

in combination, can cause excessiveheat

build-up and possible tire failure.

The temperature grades are A(the highest), B,

and C. They represent the tire's resistanceto

the generation of heat and its ability to dissi-

pate heat when tested under controlled con-

ditions on aspecified indoor laboratory test

wheel. Sustained high temperature can cause

the material of the tire to degenerate and

reduce tire life, and excessivetemperature

can lead to sudden tire failure. The grade C

corresponds to alevel of performance which

all passenger car tires must meet under the

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No.

109. Grades Band Arepresent higher levels

of performance on the laboratory test wheel

than the minimum required by law.
