The coolant is amixture of water and anti-

freeze/corrosion inhibitor. It performs the

following tasks:

corrosion protection

antifreeze protection

raising the boiling point

If the coolant has antifreeze protection down

to -35 ‡(-37 †), the boiling point of the cool-

ant during operationisapproximately 266 ‡

(130†).

Theantifreeze/corrosion inhibitorconcentra-

tioninthe engine cooling systemshould:

be at least50%.Thiswillprotect the engine

cooling systemagainst freezing down to

approximately -35 ‡(-37†).

notexceed 55% (antifreeze protection

down to -49 ‡[-45†]).Otherwise, heat

will notbedissipated as effectively.

If the vehiclehas lost coolant, addequal

amounts of water and antifreeze/corrosion

inhibitor. Mercedes-Benz recommendsan

antifreeze/corrosioninhibitorconcentrate in

accordancewithMBSpecifications for

Service Products 310.1.

Thecoolant is checked with every mainte-

nanceintervalataqualified specialistwork-

shop.

When the vehicleisfirst delivered,itisfil-

ledwithacoolant mixturethatensures

adequate antifreeze and corrosionprotec-

tion.

Windshield/headlamp cleaning sys-

tem

Important safety notes

Onlyuse washerfluid thatissuitablefor

plastic lamp lenses, e.g.MBSummerFit or

MB WinterFit. Unsuitablewasherfluid

could damage the plastic lensesofthe

headlamps.

Do not adddistilled or de-ionizedwater to

the washerfluid container. Otherwise, the

level sensormay be damaged.

OnlyMBSummerFit and MB WinterFit

washerfluid shouldbemixed together. The

spraynozzles mayotherwisebecome

blocked.

At temperatures above freezing:

Fillthe washerfluid reservoirwithamixture

of water and windshieldwasherfluid, e.g.

MB SummerFit.

Add 1partMBSummerFit to 100 parts water.

At temperatures belowfreezing:

Fillthe washerfluid reservoirwithamixture

of water and windshieldwasherfluid, e.g.

MB WinterFit.

Adapt the mixing ratio to the outside temper-

ature.

Downto14‡(Ò10 †): mix 1partMBWin-

terFit to 2parts water.

Down to Ò4‡(Ò20 †): mix 1partMBWin-

terFit to 1partwater.

Down to Ò20.2 ‡(Ò29 †): mix 2parts MB

WinterFitto1partwater.

Add windshield washer fluid, e.g. MB

SummerFitorMBWinterFit, to the washer

fluid allyearround.
