Tire pressure monitorwarning mes-

sages

If the tire pressure monitor detects apressure

loss in one or moretires, awarningmessage

is shown in the multifunctiondisplay and the

yellow tire pressure monitor warninglamp

comeson.

If the CorrectTirePressureCorrectTirePressure message

appearsinthe multifunctiondisplay,the

tire pressure in at leastone tire is too low

and must be correctedatthe next oppor-

tunity.

If the Check TirePressureCheck TirePressure message

appearsinthe multifunctiondisplay,the

tire pressure in one or moretireshas drop-

pedsignificantlyand the tiresmustbe

checked.

If the TirePressure WarningTireTirePressure WarningTire

MalfunctionMalfunction message appearsinthe mul-

tifunctiondisplay,the tire pressure in one

or moretireshas dropped suddenlyand the

tiresmustbechecked.

Observe the instructions and safety notesin

the displaymessagesinthe "Tires" section

(Y page 182).

If the wheelpositions on the vehicleare

rotated,the tire pressures maybedis-

played for the wrong positions for ashort

time.Thisisrectifiedafter afew minutesof

driving,and the tire pressures aredisplayed

for the correct positions.

Restartingthe tire pressure monitor

When yourestartthe tire pressure monitor, all

existing warningmessagesare deleted and

the warninglamps go out. The monitor uses

the currentlyset tire pressures as the refer-

ence values for monitoring. In mostcases, the

tire pressure monitor will automatically

detect the new reference values after you

have changedthe tire pressure. However, you

can also define reference values manuallyas

describedhere. The tire pressure monitor

then monitors the new tire pressure values.

Set the tire pressure to the valuerecom-

mended for the corresponding driving sit-

uationonthe Tire and Loading Information

placard on the driver's side

B-pillar (Y page 253).

Additionaltire pressure values for different

loadscan also be found on the tire pressure

table on the insideofthe fuel fillerflap

(Y page 253).

Make sure thatthe tire pressure is correct

on allfourwheels.

Make sure thatthe SmartKeyisinposition

2 in the ignition lock.

Press the = or ; button on the steer-

ing wheeltoselect the Serv.Serv. menu.

Press the 9 or : button to select

TirePressureTirePressure.

Press the a button.

The multifunctiondisplay shows the cur-

rent tire pressure for the individual tiresor

the TireTire pressurepressure willwill bebe displayeddisplayed

after drivingafew minutesafter drivingafew minutes mes-

sage.

Press the : button.

The Use CurrentPressures as NewUse CurrentPressures as New

Reference ValuesReference Values message appearsin

the multifunctiondisplay.

If youwishtoconfirm the restart:

Press the a button.

The TirePress. MonitorRestartedTirePress. MonitorRestarted

message appearsinthe multifunctiondis-

play.

After driving for afew minutes, the system

checks whether the current tire pressures

arewithinthe specifiedrange.The new tire

pressures arethenaccepted as reference

values and monitored.

If youwishtocancel the restart:

Press the % button.

The tire pressure values stored at the last

restartwillcontinue to be monitored.
