publication of the Operator's Manual.

Engine compartment

Hood

Important safetynotes

WARNING

If the hood is unlatched, it may open up when

the vehicle is in motion and block your view.

There is arisk of an accident.

Never unlatchthe hood while driving.

WARNING

When openingand closingthe hood, it may

suddenly fall intothe closed position.There is

arisk of injury to personswithin range of

movement of the hood.

Open and close the hood only when no one is

within its range of movement.

WARNING

Openingthe hood when the engineisover-

heated or when thereisafire in the engine

compartmentcould expose you to hot gases

or other serviceproducts. There is arisk of

injury.

Let an overheated enginecool down before

openingthe hood. If thereisafire in the

enginecompartment, keep the hood closed

and contact the fire department.

WARNING

The enginecompartmentcontains moving

components. Certain components, such as

the radiator fan, may continue to run or start

again suddenly when the ignition is off. There

is arisk of injury.

If you need to do any work inside the engine

compartment:

switchoff the ignition

neverreach intothe area where thereisa

risk of danger from movingcomponents,

such as the fan rotation area

removejewelry and watches

keep items of clothing and hair, for exam-

ple, away from movingparts

Opening the hood

WARNING

Certain components in the enginecompart-

ment,such as the engine, radiator and parts

of the exhaust system,can becomevery hot.

Working in the enginecompartmentposes a

risk of injury.

Where possible, let the enginecool down and

touchonly the components described in the

following.

WARNING

When the hood is open and the windshield

wipers are set in motion, you can be injured by

the wiper linkage. There is arisk of injury.

Always switchoff the windshield wipers and

the ignition before openingthe hood.
